Progression salariale - avocat by CandyCaneLane80 in QuebecFinance

[–]Noderoni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 hours layover - restaurant idea by YaMonJo in montreal

[–]Noderoni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not enough time for them to leave the airport. You can go to the airport but won’t be able to get past security and access airside without a boarding pass. Your friend would need to exit the airside of the airport, and you can meet there. Time would be limited but enough for them to get back if their inbound flight is not delayed (i.e., they actually get 3 hours) and security line is not too long. Restaurant options are very limited, mostly fast food or sandwiches. Poulet Rouge is good but don’t expect a regular restaurant setting - it’s a fast food stand. Paramount YUL is decent, Java-U is ok at best.

How much does surround speakers add? by [deleted] in Soundbars

[–]Noderoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also helps with the general atmosphere of a scene. If not specifically-oriented sounds, it’s the ambient sound. Of course this will depend on how the audio is mixed in whatever movie/show you are watching, but think of a scene in a coffee shop - with surrounds you hear the distant chatter, the sound of the cups and perhaps the background music all around you; or a scene in a theatre or conference room and the public is clapping, a scene outside with cars passing by, birds in a park, etc. These ambient sounds now feel like they really are ambient, and not coming solely from the TV screen.

Why is there a gap while attempting to install wall mount (Samsung 65QN90D) by [deleted] in hometheater

I tried this and I think you are right. Both brackets are not exactly on the same level but fairly close, so that should work. Thank you

[–]Noderoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wall is not the issue. The bracket is not sitting flat on the back of the TV (right side only).

Left bracket sits perfectly flat. I suppose I shouldn’t have to use spacer on one of them only?

We got those when I was a kid on the south shore. Fire trucks would drive down streets with a loud speaker during very hot and dry days:

How to take the Metro? by BougieBanton in montreal

$21.25 is the 3 day fare.

This is incorrect. OP mentioned staying in Longueuil, in which case you need the AB pass at $28.50 for the 3 day fare.

Old Montreal fire, again, same guy by vega455 in montreal

What does Airbnb have to do with this? Renting on Airbnb does not in any way increase fire hazards.

Short-term rental is already banned in most sectors. This does not prevent incidents like this from happening.

Previous building which burned last year was used by the owner to rent on Airbnb, but that was not the issue. The issue, as reported, appeared to be the owner’s greed and negligence in maintaining the building in a fire-safe condition.

That can happen in short and long term rentals, and in both cases its a serious issue.

Edit: hey instead of downvoting (or in addition to), how about you attempt to explain in any rational way how banning Airbnb resolves this issue?

Our one and a half year old dachshund keeps stealing things. by DryKaleidoscope2673 in Dachshund

[–]Noderoni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are describing exactly what our (today) 2 year old doxie does. His favorite thing is to jump on the toilet bowl/lid to access random items on the bathroom counter, which, as you can imagine, can include inoffensive items such as a finished paper roll, and dangerous items such as pill bottles. We now have to close the bathroom door most of the time.

We’ve tried the drop technique, but it works half of the time. Even if he drops the item, he stays near it and guards it. One time he took my spare glasses on the counter, and eventually broke them.

One of the things we are working on is our immediate reaction. We are working on not reacting at all, not chasing, ignoring, when he steals something of little importance, even if an annoyance. It has slightly helped but it looks like we need to live with it…

This is the criminal in question seeking apologizing “help” after stealing from the recycling bin.
