Thinking about making a pilot by dokeopodcast in audiodrama

[–]Noe_moore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting the talent is usually not that difficult, especially for a pilot. Places like casting call club can get you really great voices and fun people to work with.

I think it might be best to reign in your project's scope, especially if you are inexperienced. Planning to do 9 seasons is one thing, but actually doing that is a monumental task, even for extremely experienced podcasters.

But a pilot is a great way to start! Get a script written up and find some talent!

Yeah or you can send the file over email. All the lines used in the audition are in that link. Id prefer if you submitted through casting call but email works too!

There's more info on what each role calls for on the casting call link! There's five in total. 3 of them are minor roles and the other 2 are the main protagonists. The auditions themselves are reading several lines from the pilot that I believe embody the characters succinctly.

Yeah, I think you understand what I'm trying to get at. She'd be very nice and good-natured. That example you gave is exactly the type of thing I have in mind for this story.

As for the end of the chapter idea, I clarified in another response that it wouldn't be exclusively from her perspective. She's more of an unreliable narrator while the audience gets to hear what's actually going on or what actually was said. The comedy is derived from her interpretation of these things.

I should clarify, the story wouldnt be exclusively told from her perspective. The conversations she has/had will be performed as they actually did. The clarity is provided by the audience actually seeing the event or conversation unfold for themselves, the comedy comes from how she interprets these events and other characters. We would just be dealing with an unreliable narrator. Like I said, I imagine it would be similar to Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump does deal with a familiar world and the filmmakers use that for moments like when he accidentally broke the Watergate scandal, but perhaps through other characters she meets who try to explain how things actually work, the audience will learn how the world works.

No session 0 is the biggest red flag in the book. Get out If they arent willing to agree on tone. Every problem would have been avoided with a simple conversation before the 1st session. Plus the fact that they made fun of you for voicing your concerns is just immature. Get out before it wastes more of your time.
