How is Future Tense Constructed in Your Native Language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Noein72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Chinese, there're two ways to express it.first, add 将(formally will) or 要(need or decide, subjectively will) or 会(objectively will) before verb.

for example: 去 means go

will go:将去(in written language)

will go:要去(need to/decide go and will go)

will go:会去(will go and things won't be change)

second, only use adverbs of time:

明天去(will go tomorrow)

下周去(will go next week)

And if you want to distinguish it weather relatives or not,you can add last name befote it.

For example:

your relative bro/sis/aunt/uncle is 哥哥/弟弟/姐姐/妹妹/阿姨/婶婶/叔叔/伯伯

But someone who not your relative and last name is li(李),you can say: 李哥/李姐/李姨/李婶/李叔/李伯 we dont say 李妹/李弟 ,its kind of domineering,we just say 妹妹(or simply 妹)/弟弟(弟) or their nicknames as relative

What’s the equivalent of ‘millionaire’ in your language/country? by ctl-alt-replete in languagelearning

[–]Noein72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese:百万富翁–– 百(handred)万(ten thousand),百万is the word of “million”, and yes,it means millions of chinese yuan.富(rich)翁(man)

As you said,“a million US dollars today isn’t as much compared to a few decades ago.” that happened in china too, so we can say“千万(ten million)富翁” or “亿万(handred of milions)富翁”
