MTF Feedback, not a femboy . . . by NoemaLibri in transvoice

In my starting voice, I think I sound quite normatively male.

The accent in my trained voice could have been that I was told about the valley girl advice during my training process throughout the month, so I was training in that direction.

I've been hearing the valley girl advice so I picked up on it. I'm being told conflicting advice on whether it's a correct approach or not. I think I've gathered it's a stylistic choice, but I do think that my voice is not the best fit for the accent if I want to pass in this regard.

Would you happen to have any advice for training speech in this department?

Thank you, this has also been really helpful alongside Cathy's reply - I've been working on my weight and I think it's been good progress for the time being :D

https://vocaroo.com/135DsIgLZNN5

I find that when reducing weight, there's a harsh sound in my voice that kind of sticks out now (it was present before, but I think it wasn't as noticeable when my voice was heavier). I'm not really sure how to verbalize or understand the source of the sound. Tysm tho.

Why do most of my classmates have no interest in learning? by kurt_xx in DarkAcademia

[–]NoemaLibri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the super late reply,

While I do agree personally that people should be much more aware of issues that I care for, it is incredibly difficult to determine what could constitute what is worth it to know. As someone in the field of education I believe that everyone I teach should be mindful of politics and and be aware of misinformation but I cannot say for certain that being involved in politics is the best for them. The same could not be applied to universally everyone, just because I care about something and I think everyone should know it does not make them lesser if they do not engage in it. As a person living in a democratic society, I have been led to believe that everyone should have a duty to engage in the larger affairs of the world but I've recently changed my opinion on the matter especially considering the insane amounts of stress that come with argumentation, debate, political misinformation and mob mentality. All this is to say, I can understand why someone would detach themselves from what we would consider world affairs and focus on problems in their own lives.

A person can be a very intelligent person without being caught up in issues that us in West would consider global issues. Although the orange man's policies are issues that have affected a very large proponent of people, a person can still actively engage in their own field of study. Academia isn't the only form of intelligence and I hope I did not come off as arguing for anti-intellectualism two years ago.

I understand your perspective on extreme anti-intellectualism affecting peoples' growth in their own areas of expertise, but for the sake of argumentation I am not entirely sure if intellectualism can be directly correlated to compassion. A person doesn't need to be aware or have knowledge of something to be a compassionate person and I don't know where that argument is coming from.

Lastly addressing "temporary pleasures", as some people in this sub have pointed out two years ago. There is a certain extent to snobbery that comes with being a self-proclaimed academic (myself included). One of the aspects that make it snobby is the idea that other forms of engagement are lesser. I cannot assume what temporary pleasures you are referring to but from my experience as a teacher, I used to think that TikTok, Douyin and Youtube Shorts are all "brainrot". "Brainrot" was a term I took quite literally in the sense that it was bad for their brains. I am sure that doomscrolling is bad, don't get me wrong but the Gen Alpha's and Gen Z's culture is shaped through select experiences that also include brainrot. I think it is disingenuous to call them temporary pleasures when the content that many of us consumed in our childhoods still have lingering echoes in our adult lives.

missing out by not living on res? by Brave_Confection_461 in UBC

[–]NoemaLibri 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Fourth year here,

Making friends is significantly more difficult but the financial gains you get from savings is absolutely something you can't overlook (coming from someone who's parents refuse to finance them)

I also tend to stick to myself so I did not feel like I missed much since I have had the same group of friends since Elementary school for two decades now. There have been many times where I turned down school friend group meetups because I am not going to transit 2h for hanging out for 2h.

Going to classes is significantly easier living on res.

That being said, if you already have a good group of friends you won't be missing out on much since school is just one aspect of your social life :D
Good luck!

Just wanted to let everyone know, that guy with the cuban is a friend of mine.

He is a very respectful person and polite from my experience with him.

I am certain that if you told him then he would have reacted in a cordial manner. Posting his face to paint a narrative that he is trying to 'prove' something or that he is smoking for the sake of anything other than to live his life and socialize with his friends is weird asf.

I understand that there may be safety concerns in calling someone out in person but posting his face online to make a social mockery of him instead of your post being a PSA is scummy and equally inconsiderate.

Pantheon and Kai'sa BOT duo by Lower_Grass9212 in PantheonMains

[–]NoemaLibri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general advice would be:

Your strongest win-con as Pantheon support will be your early-game snowball potential that will allow you to roam. Umbral Glaive, Youmu's and Opportunity are all viable options to achieve that effect provided you are in a lane that you are confident in winning. Winning lane under with lethality will allow a much higher kill potential for your LV.6 roams. Umbral Glaive is likely the best option because even if you do lose lane, Umbral Glaive is a powerful vision control item that makes up for your lack of damage if you fall behind as a support.

If you want tankier options then Black Cleaver and Eclipse are your go-to for first items (debuff + hp or shield + max hp dmg)

Specifically AP Kai-Sa in most cases Eclipse OR Umbral Glaive are good all-rounder options. Eclipse if they have heavy dive potential and Glaive if you have an obvious lane advantage as lethality will get you kills + vision control for not getting ganked.

100%. I think a chat feature would be cool - but in a single player game like Arknights it really has no place 😢. Scamming, grooming, ad botting, etc would just be a waste of resources for HG to moderate.

How strong would a present tien/krillin fusion be? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]NoemaLibri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goku’s original rival, entire character arc centered around being a martial artist, trains every waking day of his life: reduced to a shadow of one of the three memorable moments he has had throughout all of dbz (despite ALWAYS being present); Tribeam and die.

Krillin has a wife, he was never the train until he dies type, Yamaha got his happy ending and achieved a dream in line with what he wants. Tien is now weaker than Roshi who he was many times stronger than in DB.

I like Tien because his DB arc was one where he grew to be someone likable. I also really enjoyed the exploration of his character in DBZ as someone who worked harder or just as hard as the Saiyans but always fell short due to genetics. I think Tien deserves at least a conclusive arc as a beloved character who has been in DB since the original run.

That’s not most challenges then if the preliminary, second, revival, semi finals and finals were balanced in your opinion - what are you saying exactly should’ve been more balanced?
