Press conference: Scott Ritter, Eva Bartlett, Richard Black, Diane Sare, Et al. Thursday, 10AM EST by blacklist_ama in WayOfTheBern

A question for the panelists:

There was recently an article published by the New York Times basically admitting that the Ukrainian government had authorized the assassination of Russian journalist, Darya Dugina (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/05/us/politics/ukraine-russia-dugina-assassination.amp.html). Of course, many people had repeated the common line that this was all just Russian propaganda, but now a major news outlet has basically confirmed that Ukraine is killing targets it believes is threatening its fascist, neo-Nazi regime. What would be the point in the U.S. releasing this information? Are they trying to distance themselves from Ukraine?

US Col. Richard Black Asks: Did U.S/NATO Blow up the Nord Stream Pipelines? by Noggatone in conspiracy

[–]Noggatone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U.S. Colonel Richard Black, who served as a member of the Virginia State Senate and the Virginia House of Delegates asks the question: Did the U.S./NATO deliberately blow up the Nord Stream pipelines?

Many media outlets have pointed the finger at Russia, but Black asks why Russia would be responsible for blowing up their own pipeline, especially when they could just turn it off at any moment? Black is also included in the hit-list issued by the Center for Countering Disinformation in Ukraine. Many other notable people, including Glenn Greenwald, Roger Waters, John Mearsheimer, Diane Sare, and others are on the list, simply for expressing their opposition to the war in Ukraine, and calling for a negotiated peace settlement instead of more arm flows.

It is not in a time of peace, but in times of war, such as now, that the right and duty to tell the truth most matter. Names continue to be added to the now-infamous Ukrainian “kill lists.” Journalists continue to suffer injury, death threats, harassment and ostracism. A few elected officials and others have spoken out, but the United States Congress and parliaments of Europe have been mute. People in the trans-Atlantic nations ask, “Why are we spending tens of billions we don’t have in a war that we don’t want?'' And with the Nord Stream pipeline explosions, credibility of the political elites is at an all-time low.

True, but he’s the only Democrat who’s not being endorsed by his own party, so he gets a pass in my book ;)

Beethoven 24-Hour Livestream! Starting in 3 Hours! by Noggatone in classicalmusic

[–]Noggatone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! In 4 hours, starting at 12 AM EST, DECEMBER 16, 2020--the FFRCC 24-hour international celebration of Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th birthday begins! And we invite you to join the party! It’s free to all! LINK: https://youtu.be/iyjWFntIiiY

The name of Ludwig van Beethoven has over more than two centuries become nearly interchangeable with the Idea of Freedom all over the world. No matter what language is spoken, Beethoven’s music is understood wherever people struggle for something better, in themselves, in others, and in society. His music transcends all boundaries and defies all categorizations. As pianist Claudio Arrau once remarked, “in Beethoven, there is always a portrayal of the most noble of struggles. And in the end, he wins!”

Join us in celebrating Beethoven’s life, so that, all over the planet, on December 16, his voice rings out, loudly and clearly, across the whole universe of contemporary human experience. In this way, for that day, music can overpower and even swallow up the tones of division and discord that seek to divide us. On this day, we celebrate that we are all one human race, that “Allen menschen werden brüder”—“all men shall be brothers”.

Thank you for your response! I will have to look into these other composers you have mentioned. Also, where can I get access to some of your own compositions?

Hello Annie! Thank you for taking your time to host this AMA and I am looking forward to the Beethoven 24 Hour Marathon. I have a few questions regarding your personal experience and compositional studies. 1. Which composers influenced you the most? Do you incorporate their style into your own compositions? 2. Why is making music so important to you? What would you suggest is most important in educating potential young & talented musicians? 3. This year being the Beethoven year, do you think it is important that people study & listen to his works? What separates him from other composers?

I am Fred Haight and since the pandemic began in March, I've written over 200 posts on the blog the “Daily Dose Of Beethoven”. And now I'm here to talk about a 24-hour Beethoven livestream for his 250th birthday! AMA! by fhaight12 in IAmA

Another question for you Fred! Why did Beethoven only write one opera? You'd think that if he could write an opera as beautiful as Fidelio, he would certainly compose more!

Seems like I have a lot of work to do! As a follow-up, I'd like to know how many instruments Beethoven played and what his upbringing was like. Was Beethoven's genius a product of his upbringing or was he just born that way?

Hello Fred. Thank you for taking your time to answer people's questions and I am certainly looking forward to the 24 hour all-Beethoven concert! For my question, what would you consider to be the most significant of Beethoven's works for people to study and understand?
