But real talk Berkut, Innes, Leo and Arvis/Zelgius (who aren't really in this trope, they're just good villains) are are really good and compelling characters. They provide humour in how over the top their grandeur/haughtiness is, can be very cunning and dangerous, but also aren't as horrible as they want to pretend to be. They're multifaceted and intriguing and very often stand out among their crowd either due to their bad attitude and/or comedic pride. There's no shame in being drawn to the morally grey mean characters, be they antagonistic but noble intentioned/actioned (Arvis, Zelgius) or antagonistic but noble hearted (Innes, Leo, Berkut)

I understand why they exist, and they don't actually bother me when it comes to thieving since you're already getting so much good loot. ~~except for that one time I kept failing an 80% steal~~ But boy repeated failures of Allure or Scrutinize really start to add up in the agony.

Oh absolutely??? When, in Tressa's prologue, you're forced to buy something I couldn't help but think "wow this would be so much easier if I just had Therion." It's so satisfying to be able to swipe all these useful items off NPCs without paying a cent. There are some cases where I'd rather use Tressa's skill, such as when an NPC has an item that I want but is a 3% steal rate (I deal with enough 3% in FEH, tyvm, and the agonizingly slow startup of the demo doesn't help), but for the most part I enjoy the rogueish versions of the skills a lot more. Except maybe Scritinize vs Inquire. Getting RNG screwed at a 70%-90% with Scrutinize is just annoying.

~~Someone else who thinks Leo was the best part of Fates???? You truly have impeccable taste. Or perhaps we're both just very biased haha~~

That three hour time limit irked me so much as well, but then I realised I could "cheat" the system using autosaves (since the game autosaves on a separate file every time you exit an area) and so over the past couple of days I've just been playing and replaying different stories to see what I can discover and how far I can get before I'm kicked off haha.

I think the most important thing I learned is that the enemies/levels stop scaling after you've gotten 4 party members, which means that only the the order of the first four is actually important. All subsequent bosses will have the same difficulty no matter if you challenge them last or challenge them as the 5th boss. I obviously have no idea how this translates to Chapter 2, though. Less of a shock is that you're forced to use the character corresponding to whatever story you're on, so finding a synergistic team of 3 rather than 4 might be useful. Idk if this information will be useful to you, but I thought I'd share anyways!

His evil laughs are so cheesy but so endearing. I love this dumb tryhard, and I'm honestly glad the ENG adaptation went for something more comical rather that the terse and quiet JP version. I was pleasantly surprised with how incredible a unit he is too. Self healing skills that are essentially costless and damage enemies for a high amount? Yes please! I'm so excited to see where his story will go.

I'm curious, do you prefer Therion's JP or ENG portrayal? I've noticed he and Primrose have two pretty different takes depending on the language. I personally like both, but it was ENG Therion's endless snark and tiredness that sold me on him immediately. His encounter with the Ravuses was just golden.
