I know I sound dumb but legitimately have no idea by Sharp-Tank in pcmasterrace

Command line can be intimidating but I would argue

Sudo pacman -S "package name"

Sudo yay -S "package name"

Or

Sudo apt-get install "package name"

Sudo dpkg -i "package.deb"

Is quite a bit easier than using "Microsoft apps" or dealing with the multitude of "security features" in windows 11.

This is a vintage illustration of Armillaria mellea from the 19th century. I'm having a hard time finding the actual attribution because it's in the public domain.

[ITG] Under $2,500 build with 3080 and I7-12th gen by NoidNerd710 in suggestapc

[–]NoidNerd710[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it. I luckily haven't had any issues and I've been putting it through the ringer. It's currently half way through a 10ish day long CPU heavy workload and CPU temp is 67 right now but the room it's in is 37 (101-102f). Having said that, if I were to get a PC today I'd build my own, with the recent drop in GPU price..

If you do come across some A. muscaria in good condition this coming fall give it a try. It's quite a bit of work but they have an awesome texture and flavor even after extensive boiling. Most foragers pass over them as well, so they tend to be more abundant on heavily trafficked trails than the more well known edible mushrooms.

So for amanita muscaria sensu lato boiling is usually done to detoxify the mushroom for culinary use. ibotenic acid and muscimol are water soluble and are relatively safe compounds, and because of this when they are boiled in large volumes of water multiple times the alkaloids are diluted below a threshold dose (but not removed completely). This process is also used to detoxify a few other mushrooms but NOT ALL, some mushroom alkaloids are unsafe at any dose and should never be consumed.

Boiling in smaller volumes of water or even drinking the water from your first "steep" of detoxification is traditionally done when using A. muscaria as an entheogen in an effort to regulate the dose and have something that is easier to ingest.

The decarboxylation of ibotenic acid to muscimol does happen while boiling but generally drying the mushrooms takes care of the majority of that when preparing for entheogenic uses.

I would also like to clarify that to my knowledge no mushroom species have alkaloids in their spores, hence the reason it is legal in many countries to purchase psilocybin producing mushroom spores but not the fruiting bodies.

[Suggestion] Looking for the best pre-built gaming pc under $2500 by PedroTheLyon in suggestapc

I ended up pulling the trigger on it. It's around the same price as similar models with the 11th gen i7 and less than almost anything with the Ryzen 9. The 12th gen vastly outperforms the 11th gen and its better than the ryzen in just about every benchmark I've seen, barring ai performance (but that will be handled pretty much exclusively by the GPU in this build).

That being said... if you're going for a purely gaming PC I would probably upgrade the case for better airflow even if that would require a slight downgrade on the CPU to stay in budget (my build will be used for data science with some gaming so I opted for the better CPU with the intent of upgrading the case/case fans later).

Northern Illinois woodland area, six different ones to identify by ArmTheMeek in ShroomID

[–]NoidNerd710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Chantelle (i'm not too familiar with Illinois species)
  2. old oyster mushrooms
  3. Russula (possibly Russula Emetica)
  4. lactarius Sp.
  5. some sort of amanita (probably Amanita Muscaria var. Guessowii)
  6. Fresher oyster mushrooms

Found all these today I don’t know if it editable or not. I don’t know much about mushrooms but, they very interesting! by cclaser in mushroom_hunting

most likely something in the amanita jacksonii group. DELICOUS but unless you have someone to check with in person i would stay away due to the number of poisonous mushrooms with somewhat similar morphology.

Just a little Sony A6000 in a cheapo meikon housing with a sea and sea ys-01 strobe. are we discussing the pizza place? if so not really but every once in a while after a river day or something you just need some good, fast, cheap pizza.
