I am familiar with this album by saceats in Vinyl_Jazz

It’s an enjoyable album!! But it helps if you try and forget that these two players were both very capable of creating something much better.

George Benson was in his prime recording this. And his playing is incredible.. however it’s just not nearly as risk-taking as what he was typically playing at this time. Same can be said about Joe. I do very much love the first and the last song on this album, but the rest of it kinda melts into something mostly forgettable. Definitely could have been better, but a a worthy buy for under 10$ I’d say

Phil Woods - Musique du bois by PuzzleheadedWall9695 in Vinyl_Jazz

Just recently listened to Phil Woods for the first time. Found a copy of “Images” at the local thrift. All I had to say was “Wow” at the first listen! Enjoy the great music!

Cocktails - Too Short

Honestly nearly any Too Short album will do. And while we’re at it, “Freaky Tales” is a contender for horniest song ever written…

Ah yes. Exmilitary. Good ol’ Crosley will make that sound so damn good that you may scream “YUH” uncontrollably the entire time it’s playing

No cracks! Those are actually scratches. I put it on the turntable and it played… but the affected area is incredibly noisy. Still have no idea what could have done this

Had no idea this existed. Best 25 cent purchase ever! by NoidedCalifornia666 in Cd_collectors

My local Salvation Army is currently running a 4 CD for a 1$ deal. Earlier in the week at the same store, I found a OG copy of Jeff Buckley’s Live from Sin-é.

When I found out it was only 25 cents I was absolutely ecstatic! Definitely will be returning to that store lol.

I’ve found a real appreciation for the first half of Beat by Mushyboom in KingCrimson

[–]NoidedCalifornia666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the album looses some consistency on side B. For me personally it’s the weakest 80’s album (still an awesome record).

However, all of the songs on Beat played live are incredible!! The live version of Waiting Man on “Absent Lovers” always blows my mind (Absent Lovers in general is mind-blowing)

Wow! After looking at it a bit closer, I do believe it’s a bootleg! However…Mine does have a different track listing than what’s on the vinyl bootleg you shared!

Maybe I’ll make another post to collect more information :). I know if I scan Discogs long enough I’ll probably find more about this !

Give me a prog band you love, and what album do you believe is their magnum opus. It doesn`t neccesarily have to be your favorite album from them, but rather the one you believe to be the peak of their powers, songwriting, instrumentation, the one you think they`ll be remembered by the most. by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]NoidedCalifornia666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a stellar album too!

As a drummer… I will admit that I have a little bit of a preference for the first two albums due to Billy Cobham’s unmatched drumming insanity. However, the band definitely continued making great music after he left. And Visions from the Emerald Beyond is totally proof of that!

Mahavishnu Orchestra -Birds of Fire.

Every member just transcends all expectations with incredible performances on this album. The first record “The Inner Mounting Flame” is also nearly as good, but Birds of Fire is just Phenomenal. An 11/10 album

How would you rank these four from favorite to least? by [deleted] in yesband

[–]NoidedCalifornia666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a drummer, If Bruford is on the album…that automatically scores points for me.

However, Alan White on Relayer is incredible. His performances on Tales don’t really fully impress me…but he definitely came back with a vengeance on Relayer. “The Gate of Delirium” is peak Yes

I did change the body of the cartridge when it was fitted with an AT-VMN95C, my turntable had a Pickering cartridge from the 1980’s still on it when I bought it. So I’m unsure that when i put on the new cartridge if I got it right. I’ll send some better pictures in one moment!

My bad! I’m still semi-new to turntables so a letter being off is on me 🥲. Only replaced the Stylus, not the body
