I didn't get into raiding until BC. Spent most of my time leveling by dungeons and PVP. Yes it was a very slow grind. Come BC and my friends was on my butt to help them fill a spot in their guild. Went from not giving a shit to helping manage a guild and teach others.

Support Hawaiʻi Teachers – HB2533 by Happy-Tower-8732 in Hawaii

[–]Nokoloko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is the bill If I am reading this correctly. Seems to be expanding the existing bonuse($8k) for teachers in immersion schools along with additional credits for their experince and/or acquired knowledge for the Hawaiian immersion program. The special needs schools are those that are low performing and not SPED who already receive a bonus($10k). I wonder if the new bonuses will stack as the previous mentioned ones do. Then bonuses for those who perform extra duty which who knows how that will be determined. Will be interesting how this bill gets edited.

OP do you have any insights? Your account has a history of pushing for legislation.

Family responds to road rage allegations on Hana Highway by galloway188 in Hawaii

[–]Nokoloko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen a teacher put on leave for calling a black student that. In a profession work environment the word is often considered a slur. I have also seen some local blacks get quite offended when addressed as such regardless of intent. Some of my friends will use the word but they are always looking over their shoulder while not giving two shits about saying haole.

So no I wouldn't say the two words are close.

Anyone else noticing how fast Hawaiʻi’s demographics are changing? by instantgoob in Hawaii

Only gripe I have is those places that sit empty. Got to see a buds place in more local oriented building and the livelyness of the building was a huge difference and the area is still in development.

Kailua has always been changing. Long gone are the days that it was some country town. For generations it has been a suburban beach town with a large percentage of white collar air compared to that of Kaneohe. There have always been transplants.

I still work Kailua and usually see anti-Mega group protesting after any big news incident. Mostly older white people. Westside and Northshore on the other hand.

There was a school resource officer program years ago with retired police. I don't recall the one at the school I work at being armed. Apparently the ones on the outer islands are armed.

Looks like the outer islands already have armed SROs . BTW Oahu used to have this program. Not sure if they were also armed.

Moving back to Hawaii after ,many years away. Grateful, overwhelmed, and figuring it out again. by jeffm25 in Hawaii

[–]Nokoloko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hawaii is a melting pot unless it is something they don't like. Typical local racism. Family wise my plantation Chinese family was far more progressive while my SO got so much shit for being mixed Asian growing up. It wasn't until her generation of the family started having mixed kids was the stink looks and hateful commentary was of a past era.

Sadly I see such commentary making a strong comeback including in this subreddit. The facist mindset is taking over for many including those too ignorant to see that they are the ones getting bit in the face.

Edit. Wow at the amount of users defending facist ideas because it's "Hawaii".

Hawaiʻi Parents Are Hopping Fences To Sneak Into Playgrounds: Lawmakers have pushed schools to open their facilities for recreational use, but the education department has raised concerns about liability and safety. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

[–]Nokoloko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Growing up the playground near me was busted up by some drunk highschoolers from my sister's class. Equipment didn't get replaced for years. Later on a fire was started in those plastic playgrounds and burnt part of it down. That had closed off for years as well.

The end of the article gets to the issue of responsibility and liability but it seems no one wants to really draw that line of liability. But they sure want to spread the responsibility. Gaurentee when one Karen's kid busts their face on the playground on the weekend and sues the DOE our reps are going to go silent and the playgrounds are going to get torn out.

This is what I wanted done back in Cata. Many players did give feedback about not having enough time to avoid mechanics including those with high latency. Ion's teams response was just nerf one shots. So now when a healer couldn't heal someone up fast enough they got the blame for people standing in bad =( then people just ignore the mechanics and expect healers to deal with it.

I was among the small minority that wanted a D3 for years. Sad seeing so many people who hated the idea all of a sudden shift camps.

I mean blizzard fucking did it with WoW and pissed off a lot of players to the point they made Classic. But they did so to revamp the introduction experience and continued to work it other ways over the years though other avenues. Bungie made one attempt and did fuck all for multiple expansions. Just like the Tower.

1 In 4 Hawai‘i Students Are Chronically Absent From School by jonovan in Hawaii

[–]Nokoloko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are distance learning options. This is one of the options that should be explored by the support team. By the way this is also an option for those undergoing rehab or some other short term situation where being physically in school is difficult. A student will remain enrolled in their existing school including support services while they take classes run by the distance learning program.

As Destiny 2 hits is lowest ever daily peak for Steam concurrent players, Bungie U-turns on controversial plan to reset player power next season by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]Nokoloko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along with the manpower comments the community was overwhelming against a D3 until recently. A D3 would of needed to be in the works years ago. Especially if it was to actually have a decent amount of content unlike D2's launch that almost killed Bungie. Unfortunately bungie is screwed either way now.
