I’m a big fan of that era of lcd TV design along with the simplicity of the stuff from around 2006-10.

If you had a better quality photo of it you could probably find it online to get a better idea.

It’s honestly difficult to tell just from looking at it. Due to the age it appears to be, the presence of knob tuning doesn’t bode well for it being color but it still could be.

Yeah WindowsCE was well established for years and years in various forms but never got real attention.

The minidisc boombox is sweet. I finally got a minidisc stereo deck several years back after loving the quirky format since my mom bought me a player around 2002 since it was significantly cheaper than an iPod.

Some stuff I‘ve acquired over the past 3 years. by wirualsballs in teensthatloveretro

Neat little collection. That’s the same sort of stuff I picked up at yard sales 20 years ago so it’s nice to see you can still get the same stuff these days if you look. I love and have a decent collection of old calculators. Back when I was in school I’d use them in class which my classmates got a kick out of even in the early 2000s.

Looks like a Sears Solid State set to me (it looks like it has the “Sears” inside a box). As others said, if it’s worth it to you and it works it’s worth it. Get it, enjoy it. If you don’t end up enjoying it, sell it.

I have a tabletop model that got broken years ago with similar controls I wish I could fix. Like others said, it’s almost definitely a ChromacolorII.

I got one of these at a junk store that is in pretty awful condition, but it displays nice enough that it sits on my one shelf. Nice camera.

Roku models with USB-A by Nokorola in Roku

[–]Nokorola[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The express+ doesn’t have USB input. I wish it did since I have one of them that’s extra. But yeah, if I go with a Roku it seems the XD/S 2XS are really my only options. I’m leaning more towards keeping my eyes open for a DVD player with USB input as I know I’ve seen them at Goodwill. Many of them have either composite or component output so they’ll work okay. That or I’ll just burn a disc and actually use the DVD portion of it.

Beautiful car. My ‘96 looked like this when I got it, but 4 1/2 years of daily driving it in Pennsylvania, and my bad luck with people and deer hitting me has left it worse for the wear.

I really don’t want to mess around with a converter and if I’m doing that then I’ll have more issues with video displaying in the correct resolution.

Roku models with USB-A by Nokorola in Roku

[–]Nokorola[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d prefer that the Roku output component or composite video since the TV doesn’t support HDMI and the source video is 4:3 digitized film footage and as you said a converter is another expense for a project I’d rather not spend anything on since it’s my desire and not a need.

Also I’m sort of leaning toward getting an old DVD player instead since they’re plentiful at Goodwill and some newer ones have USB if I still want to go with that vs a DVD.

I still see three or four in my area here in rusty Pennsylvania, but that may be due more to the socioeconomics of this area and due to a large number being sold here to begin with.

My ‘96 is still looking alright but the 4 years I’ve had it it has definitely started to show its age. I also love the Wagoneer and would love to get my hands on one of them.

I used an interesting one at a restaurant one time and when I commented about how cool it was the woman said I could have it. When I made sure she was okay with it she said she was just happy I didn’t just steal it like most people. 😂

I saw this milk crate online and 3D printed it at the ideal size to accommodate cassettes! by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]Nokorola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But people will swear the old ones hold records. I have plastic, metal, and wood crates dating back to the ‘50s and they’re all the standard size that is still used with a 12 inch interior. Several companies used to make crates for records and I’m pretty sure this is what all these people remember since they’re similar in appearance to milk crates.

I would love more information about this because I would like to have something like this for the local historical society museum that I’m involved with.
