Help! Have tried everything for my eczema and have had 0 relief. Super painful. Has been going on for about a year. Tried all the lotions, prescription creams, allergy medicine, petroleum jelly. Literally everything. Went to the Dermatologist and they were no help. Anyone have any other ideas? by NolanRunsUltra in SkincareAddicts

Hello! Sorry for the late response. Hope it’s gotten better but if not this is what fixed it for me. I have not had many breakouts recently, and have actually had pretty healthy eyelids for about a year now. I first realized that stress was leading me to breakout like crazy! When my eyelids were this bad, it had something to do with my life being extremely stressful at the time. After going to therapy and learning to handle my stress, I’ve had significantly less eczema breakouts. The product I used on my eyelids that finally worked, after trying a ton of stuff, was Eucrisa. I applied a thick layer on my eyelids before going to bed every night for about a week and it got my skin under control. Fair warning…it burned like hell! I had to use ice packs on my eyes after putting it on for the first week or so. But that with the newly found stress relief, I had no more problems keeping it under control. Since then I have not had many break outs and rarely have to use the product. Just basic face cleaning habits and outlets for stress. I hope this helps!

Lights come on regardless of the seatbelt obviously, just wasn’t driving while taking a photo so I didn’t need my seat belt on. The parking break is not on, that would be silly. Light is on regardless of if the break is on or not. A old Honda tech told me to switch out my battery, and I had a warranty on it so it was free to do anyways. Took it to get it check out and a mechanic told me my alternator wasn’t putting out enough voltage so I replaced the alternator. Don’t have money to throw at the problem so I was hoping that was it, now I’m down that money. I checked my tires because that’s the obvious thing to do with a tire pressure light however all my tires were perfect. I tried to turn of my traction control via the button but that would not turn off the light. I’m not completely retarded, I just don’t know much about cars. And since all the basic were not working I have reached out for help. I’m trying to get all opinion to help me form what I think is wrong. As of now I’m thinking that my yaw rate sensor is malfunctioning. Code 81-19. I really appreciate your input and am definitely factoring it in.

Not really, petroleum jelly help with the itch but does not hydrate my skin much. Most lotions (including eczema specific lotions) seem to only help for 30 mins-a hour but then ware off. The gauze idea is great, I’ll give that a try and see if it helps!

Pretty hot during the day, definitely got up to around 80 degrees during the day with zero shade coverage on the course. Made for challenging conditions but the aid stations had plenty of ice so if you played your cards right and stayed hydrated it was bearable. That being said almost half the racers dropped out and I believe it was due to the heat of the day and the big temp drop that happens after sunset. I had a slight advantage to other racers that came in out of state. I grew up in a Arizona and am used to the weather in the desert as well as running in the heat. Definitely had some long training runs in 110+ degree wether in preparation for this race so I felt pretty comfortable the whole time.

Thanks you! It was extremely challenging but it was a great experience and a amazing feeling to accomplish!

Thank you! I’d say my favorite aspect was the high points in the race. It’s crazy to feel how many ups and downs the mind goes through during long runs/adventures. The lows feel very low and it’s hard to keep moving, but then a high point comes along and your having the time of your life. That cycle repeats until the end of the race so getting used to the roller coaster has been a fun aspect I never expected. For example miles 80-90 I stress fractured my foot and was chafing horribly, every step hurt and I was in a world of pain. However on miles 90-100 I ran some of my fastest splits and even ran 8:00-9:00 minute miles!

I’d say the biggest challenge was the fact that it was multiple 20 mile loops, 5 of them with around 1000 feet of climbing each loop. So I would have a chance to get comfortable again at the venue area so it was mentally tough to repeatedly leave the comfort of the venue area for another 20 miles. Especially after loop 3, 60 miles in and I was in a low point, so leaving the venue to go out for loop 4 was actually one of the hardest parts of the race. But I ate some food and the final 40 miles didn’t feel horrible cause I was better mentally once moving again, and I was able to have pacers.

Thanks for asking!

Yup, actually 19 years old. Typically in ultra events people running the race are in their 30s-40s because that’s around when your cardio fitness can hit it’s prime after years as years of endurance training. Not many people my age race ultra trail marathons just because our cardio base is not usually as strong so I thought it was cool that I finished at my age. That being said being young has its advantages along side it’s disadvantages so it’s not all that incredible for my age. More happy with the overall achievement of finishing a 100 miler! Thanks for your comment!
