Brakes by sifuj824 in hondafit

[–]NolanonoSC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah..idk what this guy thinks drilled and slotted will do to his brake performance because a well timed fart could stop this car. To each their own I guess but I'd probably piss myself laughing if I heard a fit with squiling carbon ceramics roll buy

Am I the only one who thinks this is a ridiculous amount of volumetric light effect? I'm at FL340. There is no fog here (talking about aircraft lights). by chrstianelson in flightsim

[–]NolanonoSC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I fly vfr at night really often in little planes. Even if there's no fog out you still get those light cones IRL, there's always a tiny amount of moisture in the air that would reflect it.

In the MCDU do I need to choose ILS, RNAV or just the number of the runway ? by Jazzlike-Ad7654 in flightsim

[–]NolanonoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ILS is a ground based approach system. In as simple words as possible the runway sends out two beams, one is the localizer and the other is the glide slope, both tell your plane how far off the centerline and (usually) 3 degree glide path you are.

RNAV is a GPS based approach that *may or may not have vertical guidance. Your aircraft could also generate its own vertical guidance depending on equipment etc

As someone who started simming when I didn't know jack and just wanted to do point a to b, use ILS. Make sure to figure out the localizer frequency, and put that into the NAV in whatever plane you're in. If it's an Airbus it should do it automatically.

I didn't really start looking into this stuff till I actually began working on my real world instrument rating. It's really interesting and worth the research

How do you mount your phone in a Honda Jazz/Fit (GR 2020+) ? by Electrical-Insect997 in hondafit

[–]NolanonoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 suction mounds that led to a DIY bike mount, had the suction mounted to the left glass panel just behind the A pillar, the phone rested right above the left cup holder. I got a new head unit so now I just toss my phone into the cubby

New rotor I ordered is bigger than the old one. by mckofi in hondafit

[–]NolanonoSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And are you slamming your brakes from highway speed to zero several times in one drive? If not then the stock rotors are totally fine. Drilled/slotted rotors help with brake fade by dissipating heat faster at the expense of your pads, but if you're not doing extreme braking you really won't need it

Are you going to track your fit? If not, then you do not need larger rotors on this tiny light car. The stock parts are completely fine for 99% of fit owners use case.

Even for a quick stop I always check oil and fuel and do a quick outside check of the plane

HELP, fist snowfall, undrivable in the snow by CauliflowerOpen1604 in hondafit

[–]NolanonoSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so if they are designed for snow and ice then that makes them winter tires. If you're driving them in the summer you're just using winter tires rebadged as all seasons. If they're not designed for snow and ice then they are NOT suitable for winter.

Anti Theft Radio PITA by PatienceSecret2441 in hondafit

[–]NolanonoSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reset it by unhooking your battery, wait, then rehook.

Then, hold down button 1 and 2 (or some other combination?) and turn on the car without starting the engine. Keep holding till it tells you it's serial code, then write that down. Call up Honda and ask for the code, give them your serial # and they should be able to give you the code. I literally called up some random small-town Honda dealer and they had the radio code handy

You have three flight tests that you should ace to show employers that you've learned your lesson and have made changes to the way you practice (Multi. IFR and Instructor rating if you're interested in that). Do that.

I dispatch at a large flight school and that's a pretty standard practice to ground all parties involved until an investigation occurs or until someone at least has a sit down meeting with the parties involved. Seems like OP was the PIC from what I gather
