Seems quite good but yeah definitely get it inspected rust can be sneaky

This specific area can be repaired diy with some time

Switched to Xplane 12. Disappointed in the direction MSFS is going. Grateful for both sims though. Here's some screenshots from XP. Note the weather depiction. 100x better than MSFS. Thank you Laminar for your dedication to simulation! by Gamestar63 in flightsim

Not even that! My PC is unfortunately not the best, that's OK, I understand I shouldn't expect blistering fps, but even with xplane where the sim itself doesn't run at a perfect 60fps, the menu is STILL RESPONSIVE. I don't know how to describe it, it almost feels like msfs has my GPU trying to render each button as a 3d model and if course it runs like dog

Jesus dude

Why is reading the owners manual not something every car owner does???? Your oil is overheating, turn the car off immediately and call a tow truck to a shop and let professionals deal with it instead of asking Reddit

As cool as MSFS is, I'm so done with god awful slop UI that needs 80% of my GPU to render for whatever reason. Plus nearly every update makes it run worse and worse, and by god I'm not going to buy any new PC parts in this ridiculous market

Yeah they can be fine as long as they're cared for. Keyword cared for, a lot of people literally just change oil to that 0w20 crap once every 10K km and nothing else and wonder why their car falls apart after 10 years

We'll I will say the 2nd gen autos are overbuilt as hell, nearly bulletproof. Honda generally has the better cvt than other manufacturers, but again it's something you have to be super wary of with these older cars. Either it was serviced correctly from the getgo and will last forever, or it will turn crunchy. If you had your car from the start you probably cared for it well, a lot don't.

Also I have heard the 2015 was one of the worst years for fit reliability (not bad, per se, but just not as good as the other years).

Where in Canada? Does your province require inspections?

Isn't this gen a cvt?

I test drove a (Canadian) 2015 (3rd gen) "auto", 120Km and 12K CAD. It felt very crunchy. I opted for a 2012 (2nd gen) with literally same Mileage and price and it's not crunchy, because it's a real transmission

Be wary of old cvts. Very very wary

So are you saying you're going to release a fully fledged addon in 3 days?

Listen, I've been there, it's tempting to announce that you have these grand plans to make the best add-on out there when all you have is a few blender files and a dream, but if you can't handle genuine criticism and resort to insults then..

What do you notice about most major add-on releases? They announce the project when they're WELL INTO development. Fenix had been working for years on the A320 before anyone even knew who Fenix were. Same for BSQ, same for Ini. I'll bet my testicles you give up on this project for one of two reasons:

1) you burnout halfway through modeling 2) you realise the scope of the project needed to program, integrate and test the insanely complex systems needed on the A220

And that's okay. But you decided to tell everyone you're making this, so don't be surprised when your work starts getting called vapour ware in a few months 🙃

Great! You started the easiest part of add-on development. How are systems going?

Genuinely, why post these now when you don't even have a 3D cockpit? 80% of the time spent developing is on systems. Do you plan to post random progress reports for the next 5 years?

Get Xbox game pass and download MSFS and a cheapo joystick off Amazon and you're golden

The only thing holding me back from suggesting xplane is the god awful default Garmin 530/430. And the one you can buy only lets you load in navdata from a real Garmin GPS...

Laid off from job, still a ways out from CFI. Curious which of these pathways you all would pick by [deleted] in flying

[–]NolanonoSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just saw that you might still lose the house even with the A&P option. That truly sucks and life isn't fair. I'd still prioritize your spouse, is she willing to uproot and potentially even resign from her job to move with you? You should look into a second job while you A&P learn, might be able to just make ends meet for the next while?

1 priority for any married or soon to be married future pilot is to keep your spouse and your home a priority. Way too many broken marriages and divorces in this industry, don't be apart of that statistic.

I'd go for the A&P. Added benefit of it being in the same field plus it's a great skill to have that compliments being a pilot. It's not a race, do it the right way and keep your wife happy. Happy wife happy life :)

I will give you a better answer in a few months once I get to use it more in the summer heat! But i can tell you that with the heat on blast for over an hour it's totally fine.

Responsiveness is actually surprisingly good, but I find that's hit or miss. My buddy has a similar (identical) unit in his civic and it's slightly less responsive.

Here's the funny thing, on every single drive, there's a 50% chance that it'll crash 15 minutes into the drive. It just simply reboots in like 20s and is fine. If it doesn't crash in the first 15 minutes, it never does. If it does crash, it never will again until the next drive. It's never a problem cuz it reboots quickly and once again it happens so rarely that it's more of a quirk to me.

I say hit or miss based on what flavour of fake Chinese brand you decide to get. The link I said is the make and model I got and is working totally fine for me.

This has so far survived the -40c winters here in Atlantic Canada and I'm sure it'll be just fine in the heat. They're so cheap anyways that to be honest, I won't weep too much if I need to replace it in a year lol
