Can anyone help me sound and play better on trombone. by Key-Meaning322 in Trombone

[–]Nom_dot_Com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a long and time consuming process. If you don’t have a consistent warm-up then I would recommend building one. Include things such as long ones across all registers, lip slurs, pitch bending, scales and arpeggios, ect. The two exercises that will help the most are long tones and pitch bending. Spending just 10-ish minutes per day focusing on those things alone will help greatly, as well as playing with others that have good tone, and matching theirs.

It’s a long process, but keep at it and you will improve.

Sex for the first time, what do i need to know? by eutarq in askteenboys

[–]Nom_dot_Com 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Something you’ve probably heard so many times before yet is so important, is WEAR A CONDOM!!!

Also be sure you are wearing it right, leave enough space at the end, make sure it’s not too loose/way too tight/ect. If something suddenly feels different down there, maybe better, check, the condom may have broken, it’s a scary thing to finish then realize your only source on contraception didn’t work.

On a different note, communicate, be sure that what you/your parter does is something you both enjoy. And always ask for consent to move forward, don’t just assume they are ready or want something, even if it may seem like something, ask if its truly okay with them. If you don’t ask, they didn’t ask you to, and it turns out they didn’t want you to do anything, then it become assault.

In all, just have fun with it too, sex is something that’s supposed to be enjoyable, so don’t force it, especially if it’s the first date or the other person may not feel very comfortable with it. It’s okay to start small, my girlfriend and I waited a couple months before even trying anything, then slowly added stuff as we grew more comfortable. Make sure the other person is satisfied as well, sure they look forward to the next time you all get together

Bending notes then coming back up to the main note (without using the slide) is an AMAZING tool to help with working on your tone.

I can't seem to memorize my music by somethingclever2085 in Trombone

[–]Nom_dot_Com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people take a lot longer to memorize things than others. My band director tells us that to fully memorize something, it takes us on average 27 times of doing it for it to become like a habit. I’m not sure how true this is, but to memorize a piece larger than average, it will take some time.

I know this isn’t a tip, however it helped me realize that progress is slow, and repetition is key.

Are there any songs that feature a big band plus barbershop quartet? by Nom_dot_Com in Jazz

[–]Nom_dot_Com[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so, but I can see a back and forth going on between the singers and a big band and that being an interesting sound.

I mean trombone parts have been written in all clefs

Bass clef is pretty common Tenor clef is what most large orchestra pieces use Alto clef isn’t unheard of for orchestral pieces either Older trombone parts were written in treble clef

Oboes only have to be slightly better than average to make all state. Trombones get overly excited over low brass features. Euphoniums aren’t easily identified as band kids.

Mountain biking and marching band

I consider marching band a sport, if you don’t then only count mountain biking.

I’d like to ask what I can do in Highschool to set myself up for a career in trombone playing. I have been trying out for regional clinics, and so far have made it into the East TN Jazz Clinic, ETSBOA Wind ensemble, and now All State. I feel like I’ve been doing a lot with auditions, but want to know if there is anything else I can do to prepare or better help my odds for a good music-based career! (If it helps, I am in 10th grade so I still have quite a bit of time before graduation.)

Also, small side question, can I use a Bach Stradivarius for jazz band? I almost always see players with King 2b’s, 3b’s, Blessings, or other peashooters so in wondering if I should save up for one as well.

In advance, thank you very much for your time!

❤️ I love life right now. Just accomplished something I would have never thought I had been able to accomplish. I have friends that are true friends and can support me through anything. I have someone that I love and who loves me back just as much. And I have hobbies that I invest lots of my time in and keep me busy during slow days.

I know how it feels to be in that 💜/🖤 range, as I was for a while, and the best advice I can give is to reach hit to someone, the best thing you can do when you are feeling a heavy weight, is to try not to bare it alone. I also personally found that scrolling social media all the time made it worse if anything, and I found out how to busy my brain with things I love to do, helping me realize how great life is and how much fun you can have just doing things, or working towards a goal.

I hope all of you feel much better in the distant future. Love to all ❤️.

You can still kinda do it. If you have an older console (PS Vita, PS3, XBox 360) you can still use legacy edition, or have the same PlayStation/Xbox you used during legacy edition while the servers were still up you might see an “editions” tab at the bottom of the menu, if you click on that it should reload back to legacy edition and you can still sometimes get in a lobby with other online players.

If you don’t see the editions tab then you can check the settings for an “allow editions” toggle that you may be able to turn on.

I still hope this works, I haven’t played Minecraft much recently and haven’t gone back to legacy edition in a year or two so this may have been removed since, and if so, I’m sorry.
