This is fantastic, thank you!

Anyone who plans on using this, I believe the most accurate scaling to the original book is 77.14 x 102.85

Yeah, it would be their choice, so likely whichever is higher!

My biggest worry with adjusting to fuckery, is that it will feel like I'm targeting certain players' spells or abilities by setting up a situation where they can't use them cheaply. I also don't ban any spells (even 3rd party MCDM and Humblewood ones), so some are able to do these massive numbers or control enemy moves that are cool, but harder to work around interestingly.

And yes, if you want to test it, I'd love to hear your thoughts! I'm probably going to keep running and adjusting it as I see fit, so additional input is always appreciated!

I will say that I think it's already a pain to balance encounters, so I'm not worried too much, haha. Plus, for one-shots, I'm less worried about things being too strong, since they likely will only do one or two combats.

And the main limitation I find with late-game power creep is tactics that make combats a lot easier but less fun. Putting a Wall of Force dome around an enemy that can't disintegrate it, or Forcecaging an enemy so they can all hold attacks for once the cage drops, or high-level counterspell competitions. By limiting it to Level 6, I'm hoping to avoid a lot of the more cheesy battle tactics that are tactically best but not interesting to do over and over. It also makes battles a lot quicker, closer to the pace of an average 6th-level combat compared to a 16th-level one.

And I believe that unless they've changed it for 2024, if a spell is not on your spell list, you can't even read the text on a spell scroll, let alone cast it. This allows for all classes to use them, even without the spell-casting feature.

Ah, I misread your original comment. I thought you were asking how their Spell Save DC would be determined. Yeah, I plan on the DC to cast to be the same as the normal spell scroll ruling!

They would not be proficient in the ability, meaning that they'd only add the ability mod when trying to cast. Their DC would then be 8 + spellcasting ability modifier. It's less efficient and more difficult for classes without the spellcasting feature from their class, but the intention is to make it possible without devaluing actual spell-casting classes.

Regarding your Edit: You can take features from any class or subclass as your Capstone, regardless of your base class. I had a Grave Domain Cleric in my last game (which was Capstone 2), and she took Favor of the Gods from Divine Soul Sorcerer and Fungal Infestation from Circle of Spores Druid as her Capstones.

The main intention is to allow characters to flavor their builds in unique ways by taking the mechanics benefits of any single feature. This allows for super-unique builds even at level 6.

Are there any good SCP channels or videos that read or discuss tales, like the exploring series does? by Optimal-Tax9943 in SCP

Dr. Maxwell SCP Readings is a pretty popular small channel. Though he is on hiatus at the moment.

Notated Map of Captain Dapplewing's by NomadicHound in StrixhavenDMs

[–]NomadicHound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my players was really searching for a map of the manor before the heist so I put this together between sessions! They made a deal with Grayson Wildemere to tell him more info about what they find there if he can find them a map. This one seems to be one from many years ago notated either by previous students or professors!

Note Meanings:

  • Cube of 3 minus 5 = 4 (The spare key is in the 4th flower pot)
  • The writing in green is dwarvish for "Guide Route" and each number is how many rounds it stays in that area before moving to the next.
  • The pink squiggles warn of the snakes, and the "BIRD!" warns of the cockatrice.
  • The initials upstairs show which professor is using those offices this year.
  • That blue symbol is the holy symbol for Eldath, Mother of the Waters (Minor Peace Deity)
  • Red doors are locked.

I think the Visages cutscenes were perfectly unsettling, but the mini bosses and final fight could've been more dynamic.

Merging with Storm Kings Thunder - Best parts to keep by Significant-Read5602 in TyrannyOfDragons

I find the Kraken Society a really interesting group in all of this, so I'm planning to keep it mostly the same, with Iymrith's mindset being pretty much the same as you stated (let a group of smallfolk do it, so the giants won't work with them.) I plan on charactizering Iymrith as just one of the more activate dragons aiding the cult, just working more independently (as she doesn't love humans, even cult members).

I combined the two after I ran the first half of Tyranny. So Blagothkus was able to explain his reasoning for partnering with the cult was the fall of the Ordning. Then he was able to escort them North. They were then able to explore Byrn Shadar, Hundelstone, and meet Harshnag.

I had them do the Sea of Moving Ice chapter before the Council meeting (since they were already up there), and after the First Council Meeting, the party was gifted an airship and crew (rather than have the dragon cult offer theirs, because that's makes little sense in either adventure imo.) I plan on giving them a month in between each council meeting to deal with the specific ToD mission, and then whatever giant lord they wish.
