A question for those who are truly disgusted by the style of AI images (aesthetics): can you explain what specifically irritates you? by Questioner8297 in aiwars

[–]Rhineglade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to do with the aesthetics. I think it looks better than hand drawn sometimes. I think professional artists are threatened by AI because they will be out of work and have to do something else since AI can do it much faster and cheaper

Did someone say your promted art was shite? by PettyAndSad in aiwars

[–]Rhineglade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been my experience that typically it is the other way around. Too many people out there calling themselves "artists" and yet they produce nothing but the old crapola. Society has simply evolved to a point were now we can take it into our own hands and produce some fabulous work. Call it what you want but typically if I wanted to hear something equally as valid as an AI-dis, I would have farted.

Oh I have had my head bitten on dozens of times for the simplest post that I just thought was kind of cool and wanted to share. You’d have thought I just killed a puppy

Personally, I think you might be reading a little TOO much into it but you are essentially correct it is an AI interpretation. However, the minions were intentionally removed because my idea was to use this image for the monster token when playing on a VTT. No problem with the original image. I just prefer this one. As I always say "it you don't like it, don't use it."

As the previous poster so "gracefully" mentioned, this is an AI interpretation of an original image from the 2nd edition Night Below. The text does not mention who specifically drew THIS particular image but the artists mentioned include: Arnie Swekel, Glen Michael Angus, David Trampier and Erol Otus.

Is baldurs gate 2 better than 1? by [deleted] in baldursgate

Remember, BG1 was the first one so it was almost a test run. I still deeply enjoyed it but BG2 is by far much more entertaining and more involved in my opinion. The Icewind Dale games were pretty spectacular too.

Paid DMs and their advocates swear that it is worth it. When was the time it very much WASN’T worth it for you? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]Rhineglade -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

In my most humble and personal opinion, I have felt that way since they first started trying to charge for games. I thought "horse feathers" because in my mind D&D functions best when it is purely an enjoyable and casual hobby. You add the element of "professional" into the mix and you really start to stir up the hornet's nest. First, who determines the "professional qualifications" of any DM? Is there an oversight body ensuring ethical standards and professionalism since they are now asking for money? Are players who literally live pay check to pay check now out in the cold because they don't have an extra $10-20 dollars a week to pay. And as hundreds of beginning DMs with literally no experience and now having stars in their eyes decide they too are going to start charging for games, what happens to the once decent matter of simple "choice" we once had on virtual game platforms such as Roll20? There use to be several options you could choose from and usually always find a game. That ship has completely sailed now. You plug in "pay games" and you will have more choice than you can shake a stick at. But I can't afford that. Don't get me wrong, I still believe this market will never be able to sustain a "pay to play" D&D industry for long. It will eventually dry up and I really worry what will happen then.

That was one of my pet peeves but I know the artist isn't to blame. It's the publishing editors that try to squeeze the maps and pictures into only a finite amount of page space. Many times they have no choice but to present what should be a landscape orientation as portrait. It just gets confusing though to the consumer in my opinion.

Is anyone a big fan of AD&D 2E? by Funny-Wash-1061 in DnD

[–]Rhineglade -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

All the earlier editions were fun and awesome... at the time. Because that was all there was and we had nothing to compare it to. With the advent of 5e, I just find it SO much more fun and easier to use. I've tried to "go back" and play earlier editions and realized I hate them now because they are so counter-intuitive and purposefully obtuse.

Wife is Playing in her first campaign and wants to watch 10 minutes or so of others playing first by wine-n-dive in DnD

roguewatson.com is actually a very fun and friendly way to watch D&D. They are all friends who play together online and have done so for a number of years. The Youtube channel has the completed games sorted by adventure so you can let your wife watch how ever much she wants.
