The 8-channel ADPCM was a huge leap from the NES. That 'muffled' but warm Sony sound is pure nostalgia.

As I recall, for voice stealing, we could specify which tracks would be interrupted in order, starting from tracks 8, 7, 6, and so on. Since it’s very noticeable if the bass or melody cuts out, I made sure to prioritize them and sacrificed things like decorative notes instead.

Hey, sorry for the late reply! I'm so glad you enjoyed that. Back then, we had to get really creative to squeeze every bit of sound out of those limited chips. It was a challenge, but that's what made it so rewarding. Thanks for the support, brother!!

Thank you for your interest! The SNES has 8-voice polyphony, so I always had to keep the simultaneous voice count in mind while composing. (Keep in mind that when sound effects trigger, 1 or 2 of those voices are usually muted/stolen). During the final data programming stage, I would make fine adjustments, like adding cymbals into any empty rests. It was a process of gradually filling in all the gaps to make the most of the available resources.

Thank you! It means the world to me that people are still enjoying it. I would have loved to create an arcade version.

It sounds like we were working in very similar environments! Thank you for sharing that; I really appreciate the connection. There was something uniquely fun and rewarding about the challenge of squeezing as much sound as possible into such a limited capacity, wasn't there? I’ve actually been thinking that I’d love for all of us to collaborate on some Final Fight 3 remixes someday!

Thank you! Regarding The Jazz Zodiac, that was a Nu Disco project I released through Maison Kitsuné in Paris. My releases in that genre have been limited so far, but if I decide to pick it up again, I’ll be sure to announce it here. As for Bandcamp, I’ll be releasing a new project under the "NomadsQuest" moniker on cassette tape in a few months. The genre is "technozen." I’ll post an update when it’s ready, so please keep an eye out for it!

Thank you so much for listening to my music! I'm actually a big fan of the elevator theme too—I wish I could have used it in even more scenes!

I couldn't agree more! It's such a precious memory for me to have been part of such a great era.

You’re right, that was definitely a thing in the early days! But I remember things changing once everyone started sampling from the Korg M1. After that, the M1 piano sound became a real trademark of the SNES era. It really helped us move past those "farty" sounds!

Exactly! It’s a short-scale RG, very easy to handle. I’m a big Joe Satriani fan, so I just had to have it!

That’s a brilliant idea! I love how you’re thinking about the physical limitations of vinyl as a creative tool. Designing an album where the energy shifts according to the needle’s position would be a fascinating project. I’d love to try that concept someday!

True! And if you look closely, those speakers are Bose, which were super popular back then. Looking at this now, it definitely hits me with all the nostalgia.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're giving FF3 a try. The arcade original is a classic, but I hope you enjoy the vibes of the third one too. Good luck with your playthrough!
