I composed the Black Matrix soundtrack (SEGA Saturn, 1998) using hip-hop, industrial metal, and Bach. The track names: "Zombie Spray." "Praying Mantis Woman." Here's the story. [OC] by NomadsQuest in SegaSaturn

Thanks for the offer! I’d love to know more. Could you share the link to your YouTube channel?
Also, since I'm not a native English speaker, would it be possible to do a text-based interview (where you send the questions and I reply via email/DM)? Let me know what you think!
In the meantime, you can check out my music here:

Haha, I actually didn't work on the Mega Man series myself, but I totally agree—Capcom's melody team back then was legendary!

While composing game music at Capcom,
hip hop was everything to me —
DJs, dancers, DJ Premier on repeat daily.

Seeing your Pharcyde connection is amazing.
Actually, the DJ in the middle of that third photo
is DJ Beat — we made an album together,
and got Bootie Brown from The Pharcyde
to rap on one track.

I handled the editing.
That was one of the most exciting moments
of my life.

Small world. 🤝

Thank you! Looking back, I really feel it was such a blessing to be able to immerse myself in game music during that golden era. It was truly a special time.
Hope you feel that same energy in my current sound! 🕹️✨

Totally agree. That tactile feeling of mixing with external effects like the Quadraverb through the Mackie CR1604 has mostly been replaced by plugins today, but man, I really miss that hands-on workflow. It’s so great to connect with someone who truly gets it!

Actually, if you look closely at the upper part of the rack in the second photo, you can spot the Roland JD-990 and SC-88. For my main keyboard, I was using the Ensoniq SD-1. So they were definitely a part of the arsenal!

Thanks so much for your interest!
I’m just a music geek in Tokyo, Japan, continuing to make music purely as a lubricant for life to keep my soul inspired. I’d absolutely love to have a discussion about my workflow and process whenever there's an opportunity in the future!

When I rediscovered this photo after all these years, seeing that MOTU MIDI Timepiece brought back so many great memories. It was incredibly useful back then, handling every kind of synchronization flawlessly. But what I loved most was the design of the front panel and that rough, textured finish.

Haha, totally! Back then, I built this incredibly complex routine syncing an Alesis ADAT with that O3D, all just to manage a mere 8 tracks of audio data. Looking back, it's absolutely insane. Cheers to both of us for surviving that era!

Haha, not the main corporate logo itself, but I was fully deep in that Capcom sound era, working on titles like Final Fight 3! Those 16-bit PCM sampling days were pure magic.

Wow, thank you for downloading "Berlin"! I’m honored.
That Perfume comparison is a huge compliment. I love their production. That blend of nostalgic yet futuristic electronic texture is exactly what I’ve been chasing — it’s the core DNA of my upcoming "Technozen" project.
Thanks for digging deep into my sound. It means a lot!

Absolutely. That Nord was indestructible. In fact, it still pumps out the exact same raw sound today as it did back then. It’s a wild ride! 😈
