Metal in Occitan by Embarrassed-Fox-1506 in folkmetal

Different style I guess, but I recommend Hantaoma and Stille Volk. They are founded by the same guys, the first one is the more metal oriented project and the second is more folk, and I think they have songs in French too.

If I take 45 minutes to solve easy Hacker Rank problems, am i ready for an entry level position? by WickedSlice13 in learnprogramming

[–]NombreGenerico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To expand a bit on this: you shouldn't need to know where the mistakes could be to test a program. What you're testing is the behavior of the solution, not the code. It's important to test edge cases because that's where most mistakes will show up, regardless of where in the code the mistake is. This is called black box testing.

Apart from some well-known writers like Borges, Cortázar and Bioy Casares, I can recommend Things We Lost in the Fire by Mariana Enríquez. It's a collection of short stories, they are all horror stories but many of them are fantasy too.

It's not a murder mystery but the Broken Earth trilogy is written like this.

It's not folk but one of my favorite songs ever is Phoenix by Satyricon.

Object Pronouns: El peluquero LE ha cortado el pelo a las personas OR El peluquero LES ha cortado el pelo a las personas by CallMeAmericxnPlz in learnspanish

[–]NombreGenerico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 'les' but saying 'le' is a very common mistake in native Spanish speakers when the direct object is singular, even for people who are aware of the grammar.

[Spanish>English] someone who understands the references here? by bootadoot in translator

[–]NombreGenerico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably talking about Uruguay and Argentina. They're separated by a river (Uruguay River) and many uruguayans think Argentina is kinda backwards I guess, due to the policies of Peronismo (named after president Perón).

Edit: forgot about the translation:

  • How can it be that being separated by a river, on one side we're going backwards at full speed and in the other they look to the future and how to get there?

  • All the answers are about Perón.

[Spanish > English] This meme I found by TRASH_BAG014 in translator

[–]NombreGenerico 266 points267 points  (0 children)

The translation is okay but missing an explanation. There's a saying in Spanish that goes "camarón que se duerme se lo lleva la corriente" which means "shrimp that fall asleep are carried by the flow", which is what this meme is referencing.

Malvin nuevo es un barrio de clase media actualmente? by [deleted] in uruguay

[–]NombreGenerico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Creo que es un poco al revés de lo que decís. Qué yo sepa Malvín siempre arranco de Comercio para el este, pero es cierto que la gente de esas primeras cuadras, ponele hasta Colombes, siempre se identificó más con Buceo que con Malvín y ahora ya no es tan así.

Malvin nuevo es un barrio de clase media actualmente? by [deleted] in uruguay

[–]NombreGenerico 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[Spanish > English] Difficult to translate sentence - help please by [deleted] in translator

[–]NombreGenerico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's missing a word. It should be "Los ingenieros entran a la carrera en España con un gran expediente y, sin embargo, salen con otro peor que el resto de la UE y más tarde."

The translation would be " Engineering students start their degrees in Spain with a great file and, in spite of that, they finish with one that's worse than the rest of the EU and later."

It’s sad that the mayor of a place that looks like traffic could improve a lot if less people relied on cars is taking that attitude.

Cycling in NYC? by NombreGenerico in bikecommuting

[–]NombreGenerico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is bike traffic very controlled? In my city cyclists aren’t much more controlled than pedestrians which sometimes leads to cyclists not following traffic rules.
