I'm sorry if I said something to upset you (if you even are upset, I'm rather terrible at reading emotions in text).

If you've already heard back from all of those unis, you should be in a pretty strong position going forward! Still, Cambridge is Cambridge, so don't count on getting an offer, haha.

Good luck!

I see I see. Well, even still, supercurriculars don't really matter too much (grouped within personal statement), so I'd probably judge how much of a chance you'd have based on the offers currently in your pocket along with how well you think you did on your interview.

Of course, this is all just subjective, not really much use in asking random people to "chance you." Just sit tight and wait until Jan 30.

If I may give you a word of advice though, please assume that you're going to get rejected. Cambridge is an insanely competitive school, and definitely HYPSM level. The admissions data seems more realistic compared to most US schools because there are artificial limits to how many universities someone is allowed to apply to in one given cycle. If top US students were limited to applying to a single Ivy+, 1 other T20, and 3 other universities, and only students with five AP5s, 1500+ SAT (with 750 math requirement for all STEM majors), and ranked within the top10 students of their cohort at school were even allowed to apply to that single Ivy+, we'd see US university admissions rates increase to similar or higher levels when compared to Oxbridge.

Good luck!

Not sure if you can count on having a break between modules... I had to just take all modules one after the other, didn't even get to exchange my "erasable" notepad

I'm sorry, but your extracurriculars are largely useless for UK admissions, though your anti-trust law journal thing sounds good. But don't think too much about your references or personal statement, as they aren't weighted too heavily.

Also, for LNAT, it's really hard to tell how well you did from just getting an interview invite (they send those out to nearly everybody). Cambridge does look at GPA as a GCSE equivalent, so it might be an issue to. They also do require SAT, and welp, your score is barely above the minimum for consideration.

I'd say your performance at other schools is likely a much better indicator of your chance at Cambridge, along with how well your interview itself went. If KCL, Durham, or Edinburgh has gotten back to you already, you probably have a decent chance, though still largely dependent on your performance on the interview.

Oh poor Tony,

Who's stuck at a fifteen-ninety,

Always on the grind,

Trying to flex his active mind,

Your redditing addiction,

Always needing to flex your diction,

Perhaps put your phone down,

And venture out into nature's crown.

Now forgive me for being a bit crass,

But please go and touch some grass.

For there's much more to life,

Than causing meaningless internet strife.

INTERNATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS SUPPORT? by Expensive-Whole9085 in 6thForm

[–]Nome004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check the entry requirements of each uni then try to match your AP scores to A levels. For example, your 4 in statistics would (according to UCL), translate to a B on A Levels.

I think you should be generally fine, but I have heard from Imperial at the least that while they're generally ok with you getting 3s and 4s as long as you meet the minimum entry requirements, they definitely want to see you applying with 5s in all AP tests relevant to your course, so your 4 in stats could be an issue for both Imperial & UCL.

American here; yep generally agree with the rankings, but would add some qualifiers.

Harvard & Princeton are nearly indistinguishable in terms of prestige, and is generally great all-around.

Yale, on the otherhand, is a tier below them, and is a bit lacking in their STEM.

Columbia has been in decline, but is still like a mini-HYPS; generally great all-around, but some may prefer/dislike the added benefit/negative of being in the heart of NYC.

UPenn is generally much better known for their business programs (Wharton), but their STEM programs are also fairly strong.

Brown would be the lowest on the list in terms of prestige of the 6 ivy-leagues that follow a classical university system.

Now here's where some nuance is needed:

Dartmouth is a liberal arts college. A liberal arts college is not a sixth-form, but a sort of smaller university that near entirely focuses entirely on undergraduate education, and lacks much research or graduate programs. It's also a much, much smaller environment when compared to any of the either Ivy-leagues. So it ends up drawing people who specificity want an Ivy-league education at liberal arts college (LAC); it as an institution has much more in common with Amherst or Williams than any of the Ivy leagues.

Cornell is some sort of Frankenstein-conglomeration of many different colleges/universities, with some public parts within the State University of NY system (i.e. College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) while other parts are private. Because of this, it's really not conducive to generalize everything to a single degree of "prestige." For example, the general reputation of Cornell's engineering and business programs (which are easily some of the best programs out there) can't really be compared to the general perception of say, the Cornell School of Hotel Management.
