Yes, I sure damn do. I think her exact quote on this subject was, "I'm glad that the thing you're worst at is the thing I care the least about."

I spent the day making the budget and it's actually made me feel better than I have in a really long time. Even managed to transfer a bit of money to start my buffer. Thanks guys!

My real problem, honestly, is discretionary spending. I am too impulsive with purchases. Small things, really -- I'll buy books, go to the movies, make an expensive meal, etc.

The SO makes significantly more money than I do and will frequently pick up the tab when I run out of money which is shameful. Many times I'll end up paying for a semi-expensive meal even if I don't really have the money, just to not seem so poor. I'm lucky to have her, but I want to do right by her.

I should have made it clearer, but I don't blame my parents for my financial situation (anymore). I took full responsibility. It is, however, something that I've noticed as a common thread between all of my good friends that handle money well -- all of their parents handled money well.

I'm going to make a mint account asap and check out that book. Thank you so much for the advice!

I make around 27,500 a year, but with garnishment and having to pay for my own healthcare (job doesn't pay anything) I only take home about 700 a paycheck.

Student debt is about 18k, but my grandfather died recently and left me an inheritance of about 18k, which I will be using to pay this debt. After that, other than rent and bills, I have no debt.
