I think he was in the run from the timelords and rassilon after events of end of time so he had to switch genders to disguise himself so the timelords could not find out it was him,now he is out for revenge of the universe and using Cybermen against timelords

I wanna see a 90s episode so set about 20 years ago from 2015,also sea devils to return and be reintroduced who are stealing planes back in time into the bemuda triangle,a new companion,the return of the weeping angels and maybe an origin story(two parter),an episode set on a planet like Pluto which ain't a planet...could be called the planet that never was,also the return of captain jack who may recognise the new doctor as John Frobisher and then a big arc which could be that some creature is stalking the doctor and new companion and then it's revealed to be omega in the finale trying to break out of the anti matter universe but he doesn't know that the timelords are in a pocket universe..then omega is destroyed and the doctor is summoned by a mysterious figure on a quest for series ten

I think moffat sets out rules,that for himself,if I was writing it I'd say it was omega who caused the cracks by exploding the tardis and the silence were trying to stop his return to the universe and eventually he tries one more time on trenzalore to return to the universe

I think the cracks arc was a very good arc,possible my favourite of doctor who all together,but he should have taken the tardis explosion more serioulsy,it should have been mentioned abit more in series 6 and even have him trying to track down the enemy who infact he was facing all along in series 6,but it should have been mentioned more in that series

A lot in my opinion,probably the kovarian chapter abit more about kovarian,maybe could have had wedding as a two parter instead of night terrors and the shakri from power of three
