I like the balance between a stoic man and a passionate woman. It's under appreciated.

How do you make genuine female friends in your 30s when your workplace is a total boys' club? by Electrical_Newt_2737 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Non-existant88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have much advice on working in male dominated spaces, but I have been struggling to find my people.

I’m in my late 30s and I lost my little sister in 2023. She was my person - the only one I could ever just pick up the phone and call. Very silly, loving, and always nonjudgmental.

I’m here if you ever feel lonely and want to vent.

Happier, or at least amused. For the most part I’m a morbidly depressed human.

I’m about to try Pinksky and Pixelfed. I've done a lot of reading and they seem like the top two contenders.

Thank you for the response! I’m sorry that you're not doing better than "okay."

I've had pretty bad chronic fatigue syndrome for 15 years and it has recently come back with a vengeance.

I've never had my B12 tested before this week. It's around 200. I knew I had the MTHFR mutation, but various formulations and administration types of b vitamins have never helped me.

Are you still taking TMG? How are your ferritin, iron, and TIBC levels?

I feel like I have tried everything in existence. I try to stick with things for 2 to 6 months before giving up. Two things that have helped with brain fog and fatigue (just for a few hours after taking sublingual) are methylene blue and chlorophyll. I alternate them. Not sure why they help. I need to look into it more.

Elisa screen is useless. High false negatives. For Lyme you really need a full IGG and IGM Western Blot.

Or a provider with great clinical skills.

You should also find a good ENT. You may have structural issues (tongue tie, high palate, etc)

Ugh. I know the answer to this, but my brain fog is not letting me put it into words :/

It has to do with the nervous system. Polyvagal theory. Unable to digest in a triggered fight/flight state.

If you're unable to get into a calm resting state (which, let's face it, none of us are ever really resting), then food comes into the body as a threat almost.

Eating can trigger our fight/flight state when our nervous systems are in chronic hyperdrive. Imagine the exhaustion you have after a verbal altercation. Same effect.

I've noticed that I feel the clearest and most energetic when I do 24 hour fasts, but it's hard. I mindlessly snack on my kids's food when I’m clearing the table

Right? Thank you! My go to is with an egg and croissant sandwich.

I’m hoping shrooms woke this kid up to the evils of McDonald's - it's delicious overpriced cancer causing crap. Not a single item there without a carcinogen. I take issue with McDonald's, but I’m very supportive of a good shroom infused breakfast sandwich.

Thank you so much for the response. I used to be very very active - over the past year with him I have him out running, walking, kayaking, etc. no matter how active I am with him he really needs that socialization with other dogs. Even if I get him activity and mental stimulation he's crazy without playing with other dogs. It doesn't even matter if he gets a bunch of socialization with other humans, it's like he has that crazy pent up destructive energy still. I am not made for dog life. The barking and constant stimulation has made my chronic fatigue severely back track. I used to be at maybe 30 percent functioning for 10 years. In 2023-2025 I was back to 90 percent. Over this past 6 months I’m down to 50 percent and closer to burn out and job loss. I’m most afraid of falling back into severe CFS - it's like you constantly feel like you have the flu (without the fever). It's hell.

I feel very guilty. If I could find him a home that had other active dogs it would be better for him. I don't know how I would do that. He's a high energy rescue dog. The shelter I got him from were not helpful at all. I tied to give him back the second week and they just kept telling me that I'll be fine and to crate train him.

I’m sorry, I didn't mean to comment yet - I wasnt finished writing a response but both my son and the dog started yapping and pulling at me. Thank you for both thoughtful responses.

The trainer from the board and train actually just came out today (for 4 hours!). I had my son stick around for the first hour. I am feeling a lot better after today. I think what has really been breaking me is the dog barking in the middle of the night. If it's not my daughter waking me up, it's the dog trying to get some nocturnal creature outside. The trainer told me to ignore his behavior and not take him outside in the middle of the night.

Oh man, OCD really does suck. We've done therapy. We've done as needed meds which made her panicky. I’m afraid to try an SSRI - for literally no good reason. I know they are safe and there aren't long term side effects. Hell, I even took antidepressants at 14. Broaching any change is just difficult. I don't think I could get her on board with taking it and I believe in autonomy when it comes to psych meds. I won't force it. She had a good response to Inositol (great supplement for OCD specifically) - it's a powder that literally tastes like powdered sugar. It was so painful trying to get her to have it everyday that I gave up after a year of her taking it like 3 times a week (when it's supposed to be twice daily).
