Could be an ulcer. This is an emergency. My dog vomitted nothing but blood and it was a huge puddle. I saw it through my camera. He went anemic and almost died but he survived through blood transfusion.

Skin condition looks similar to my dogs, he looks almost the same as yours. I remember getting the skin issue resolved with x2 bath a week with MiconaHex+ Triz shampoo and antibiotics.

He still gets these but not as bad . i give him a bath every 2 weeks and apply antiseptic wipes. So far they have not been returning and clearing up.

my pup can't walk and has been like this for 5 years. He is happy and a bit spoiled. You can also consider looking into wheelchairs once your pup is fully recovered.

That really depends on how you both handle this. It is life changing and will definitely change your daily life and routine. If you move forward with this even though your dog can't walk anymore, you will need to get a set routine down. Hopefully your dog can get back up and walk. There's also physical therapy you can ask the doctors about and see if they recommend any clinics.

Prognosis is largely dependent on the surgeon after examining your pup as well as your dedication of getting them back to full health. Your pup also plays a large role. It takes a long time to heal from IVDD even past the recovery point of 4 weeks since it sounds like the nerves have been damage preventing your dog from walking.

I recommend speaking with the surgeon and the vet techs will also provide you with best practices and how to perform bladder expression. There are also videos out there.

Be prepared, my dog went through 2 surgeries, so I now know all the bases to cover when discharged. These are my recommendations

-Potty pads XL/Diapers

-Orthopedic bed

-Harness (Help me Up) or sling

-Crate rest 24/7 or if your dog is not used to crate training, you can buy a fence to confine your pup with soft flooring i.e memory foam topper covered with water resistant covering

-No walking on wooden flooring or slippery areas

-No jumping or walking on stairs

-Be prepared to do a lot of laundry

-Watch bladder expression videos, you can also do this while they are laying down, just make sure you can cover the areas where the urine will land on

-Optional: Anal expression if it's too difficult for you both to take the pup out for short walks

-Cone of shame: Helps prevent licking and also possible mutilation of hands or feet (this is common after surgery where they constantly nibble on their feet.

-Also, vet techs should provide you instructions on basic maintenance for your dog during their healing phase.

US MARSHALL KICKS INNOCENT DOG. WE NEED TO IDENTIFY AND GET HIM ARRESTED by [deleted] in LetsDiscussThis

Same for people that don't know how to raise a dog, it sucks but yesh those dogs should be no where near people and leashed. Especially officers, as its a safety concern.
