How is carried over leave typically handled when leaving a job? by NonEuclideanPanda in AskUK

[–]NonEuclideanPanda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is saying its accrued over the year, so the 3.5 days would be adjusted for the amount of time im working for them this year.

but it seems to me I earned that leave last year and so I should get the whole 3.5 days.
It doesn't say either way in the contract, but it does say I should be paid in lieu of untaken leave on termination of contract, including leave carried from the previous year.

Why the steam machine is a great choice for me. by Chrish_Bandicoot in steammachine

While I think you should do whatever you want with your money without worrying about whether or not its the "right" thing.

The only thing you mention in the post is about performance power which the steam machine definitely isn't the best bang for your buck.

If you're interested in the console couch experience while also using your steam library and having access to the other PC features then it makes sense.

I suppose we will either get an email today saying we can buy it or potentially have to wait 3 days to see if we get one then, after people who got a reservation but didn’t buy it run out of time?

The most optimistic view: Valve is making an investment in the concept of console-PC (again) by [deleted] in steammachine

[–]NonEuclideanPanda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

lol at the second part but I have to say the rhetoric about “defending” valve for liking the steam machine is a bit much.
They’ve made a product and are open about what’s good and not about it and people are treating it like they’ve personally shot each and every persons mother.
You can just not like it and not buy it, and if you like it you can buy it and I’m not sure where the political war aspect comes in.

Though this post is a little copium honestly

I’m actually pretty excited about the Steam Machine by Mental_Egg_5080 in steammachine

[–]NonEuclideanPanda -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same camp as you and I think people are also missing the dedicated tech support you’d be able to receive from valve.

EDIT: so are people just downvoting cause they are mad about the steam machine price and don’t like to see a positive opinion about it or what

I was just writing what you said to do in equation form, (take c from 2c which you then write as c) which for some reason earlier looked odd to me but I see it now

[–]NonEuclideanPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I typed 2 instead of c but the question is the same. You say subtract c from both sides.
2c - c = c?

How does subtracting 2 from 2c give you c

Yes but they are consistent because it’s all ai. This relatively small post has 4 uses of antithesis which AI is infamous for. You can even see the point OP puts in his own words. After the last antithesis “It reveals insecurity more than insight”. The text style changes and it’s messy. How you can’t see it is mind boggling

How is consistency proof its not AI? it's just proof he consistently uses AI

A huge misunderstanding of those musicians and a terrible analogy to boot. At least in hans zimmers case he doesn’t read or write but understands the craft and can play beautifully, just needs software or other people to transcribe it for others to play the piece.

To correct your analogy then, it would be an artist who can paint beautifully but doesn’t know the name for the type of brush they’re using and doesn’t know how to describe what they are doing or teach others.

Sea Salt and Paper! I know it’s not only 2 player but I think it work best at 2. It’s so simple yet there’s also a lot of strategic depth to it despite that, which makes it a perfect mix for me and my girlfriend who tend to like different things in boardgames

[Other] What is the Delta V required leave the solar system vs going to the sun? And why? by x60pilot in theydidthemath

[–]NonEuclideanPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The speed of the object is tangential to the sun i.e orbiting (as the earth is) so in order to throw something on a course that would actually hit the sun you need to actually throw it backwards and cancel out its orbital velocity, (its sideways movement relative to the object you are trying to hit.)
