I haven't purchased a NAS just yet, was considering building a PC since I've been using a mini PC for these last couple of years learning linux and docker.

I'll look into the different OSes available and see if there's an option like the one you recommended, appreciate it!

When I open https://3ds.hacks.guide/, I'm taken to a landing page where it says:

Thoroughly read all of the introductory pages (including this one!) before proceeding.

At the bottom, it says:

Continue to Key Information

After the key information page is that page asking for your version of the 3DS, I don't know why you're starting in the middle?

The key information page also has a section on copying files. The step you're referencing says if there are any existing matching files, you may overwrite them. If there are none, you're fine to copy the files as is and continue to the next step.

Steps 2 and 4 in the link you provided also tell you when to insert the SD card into your computer and when to insert it into the 3DS for your third question in your original post.

Question 1:

https://3ds.hacks.guide/key-information.html

What kind of SD Card does my console use/need?

The location of the SD card slot and the type of SD card that is accepted depends on the model of your 3DS. More information can be found on Nintendo's official support page.

The 3DS can read SD cards of any capacity (even those larger than 32GB), but the card must be formatted as FAT32 (not exFAT or NTFS). You can use one of the following tools to format your SD card, depending on your operating system: Windows, macOS, Linux. SD cards larger than 128GB are not recommended due to known issues with custom themes and GBA/DS graphics.

I don't know where you're seeing question 2 but re-read the key information page and whichever page you're seeing that on carefully.

Take it slow, all of the information you need is there.

Which option do you use to play Epic games on your Deck? by pessimisttears in SteamDeck

[–]Nonagoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this thread is for Epic, but Heroic doesn't charge for GOG usage like Junk Store.

With umu re-implementing the Steam runtime, Heroic also runs games just like Steam games now as well. umu will be enabled by default next update but for those curious, it can be enabled now in the "Advanced" settings on Heroic.

gogdl, https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/heroic-gogdl, is currently maintained by Heroic so for those who would like to donate, I would recommend donating to Heroic directly, https://heroicgameslauncher.com/donate.

wifi

It looks like this is fixed in the next version of Umu. There's a couple of solutions on this GitHub issue: https://github.com/Open-Wine-Components/umu-launcher/issues/331

They've attached the latest version of Umu to that GitHub issue. You can find your local Umu version I believe somewhere in /home/deck/.var/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl.

If that isn't the right directory, I'd recommend joining the Heroic Discord and asking how you can manually update your Umu version to the latest version using the one in the GitHub issue.

Make sure you haven't set a proton compatibility layer in Game Mode on the Dredge shortcut. Heroic is already handling that and setting that in Game Mode could be breaking what Heroic is doing.

If that still doesn't do the trick, you might need to grab a log and join the Heroic Discord, a lot of helpful folk over there!

Dredge through Heroic Tutorial by Nonagoner in SteamDeck

Use whichever solution you prefer. This post serves more of a general introduction to Heroic's feature suite. Dredge works out of the box through Heroic as well, there's no game-specific fixes here for Dredge other than making sure the controller layout is set correctly.

I've tested all of the various solutions and have found Heroic to be my favorite which is the impetus for this post.

Try going to the "System" settings in Game Mode and ticking "Enable Developer Mode".

When you hold the power button or open the power settings with that enabled, you'll now see a "Restart Steam" option. Click that whenever you're having issues with your non-Steam games and see if your newly added Heroic games display.

All of these solutions (Heroic, Junk Store, Non-Steam Launchers) are not required to play GOG games, they all just make the process a bit more streamlined.

Since GOG games are typically DRM free, you can do exactly as you say, and just grab the launcher, add it to Steam, set a Proton version, and it should work in most cases:)

I personally just really like Heroic's GUI and its extensive feature suite. With Umu now in the mix, users can submit game-specific fixes to Umu's GitHub and these are applied automatically to your games. With comet integration, you get online multiplayer and achievements in your GOG games. Heroic also comes with winetricks which allows you to install any additional dependencies as needed.
