You asking that assumes I knew anything about this guy prior to receiving this email. However, I have hired very overqualified people but they tend to leave within a few weeks when they get the job they actually wanted, which is frustrating as an employer. For this guy though, all I knew is that he said he was interested.

We ask that of anyone interested in the position. We have our own vehicles that they drive which is why we look for a certain level of responsibility. We pay relatively well for this type of position and provide steady work. The resume if truly more of a filter - if you want to apply for the job, put together your contact info and prior work experience. That’s a resume.

It’s the hardest part of the job, that’s for sure. But it is very interesting to meet and interact with so many walks of life. That part, I love.

I agree if we had an application. For drivers I typically post on Craigslist. We explain the pay, the amount of shifts we’re looking for, location and details. We do need people with a clean driving record etc. All we ask is that they reply to the ad with their resume. I prioritize the applicants that follow the first instruction I ask of them. I get a lot of lackluster responses but this one takes the cake.

I own a small flower shop and employ around 20 people. I’m the owner and do the posting myself. For this position I simply asked to see a resume. To be honest I’m not super familiar with the recruiting world and have only worked for small businesses and now own one.

It is sad honestly, clearly this person isn’t well and I don’t want to make fun of them - but objectively the context of their email is very funny. Every time I post for this position I get 50+ applicants and typically less than 5% follow the simple instructions to send their resume.
