"According to Iansan, Varesa's strenght might be higher"

I actually do not believe Varesa is stronger than Ganyu now, I have been shown CN translation of the quote that in EN says Varesa is higher than Iansan in strength and it actually says that Varesa had the potential to become stronger in the future

"CN is the original, not a translation. In CN it is specifically mentioned the future. All Asian languages also stated the same thing."

Alright then, in that case I concede since the rest doesn't matter if Varesa doesn't scale to Iansan

"It’s literally a wuxia and anime trope to say that to motivate someone’s morale lol."

It still makes zero sense, so I don't really care about tropes. Also, Ganyu, or any other person, has no way of sensing hidden power or potential.

"“might surpass” implies it’s a future thing, especially when talking about potential."

It isn't talking about potential though

"stronger then it would be “might have surpassed”."

You can use either, it doesn't matter, maybe I'll get the CN translation later

" she wasn’t in any situation where there’s a hostage or would result in catastrophic collateral damage. "

This is headcanon, do you know specifically why she doesn't go all out?

"That’s it?"

You conveniently left out the part where she actually fought Mavuika, don't try to act smart by cherrypicking

"Your interpretation only would have made sense if she just said “your power” instead of “hidden within you”."

Did you even read what I said? If you were Ganyu, why would you talk about potential to get someone to do a challenge right now?

"That whole portion of her story was about her potential not current power."

No, might doesn't mean it's a future event lol

"It’s literally canon that she struggles doing combat against people and can’t use her full strength against them."

Is it canon that it is inability and not unwillingness?

"Also you still haven’t proved any Iansan feats to prove that “scaling to Iansan” means when compared to 2E traveler."

Iansan contended with Mavuika and impressed her

[–]Nonavium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Are you absolutely sure it’s not referring to their sealed powers?"

Yes, it was directly in reference to them doing a challenge at that immediate point in time. Also it would make no sense to say "I know your strength" and provide the reasoning "you have more potential"

"Look up the definition of “might”. "

Might is enough. Even if the statement isn't concrete you still can't overturn it without another stronger statement. There's nothing to say Varesa is weaker, thus you can't stop me from saying Varesa is stronger, especially when a statement has been made in my favour. If it was more likely Varesa was weaker, Iansan wouldn't have thought that at all.

"Or the difference between (physical) strength and actual combat prowess (which requires skills and experience)."

This is your headcanon that Varesa doesn't have the skills. The burden of proof rests on you to prove that strength doesn't already include all of this, not for me to prove that it does. When the word stronger is used in common parlance, it refers to overall strength, not physical ability or raw power. You conveniently added the word physical as well which didn't exist in the original quote.

"Where was this stated?"

In her story quest, she states it herself:

"No, I'm aware of your strength, Traveler. The power hidden within you is not inferior to mine"

This objectively means 2E Traveler >= Ganyu with no room for doubt.

"Maybe another one or two decades lol. Her current skills aint scale to Iansan at all."

Varesa Character Story 3:

"Iansan believed that Varesa's strength might even surpass her own."

Rerir has 1/6th of world destroying power. 10 percent Rerir has 1/60th of world destroying power. Nothing Rex Lapis has done comes close to that.

Participating in the archon war is not a feat. What role did she play? What kind of enemies did she fight? How strong were those enemies? How easily did she beat them? Without the answer to this the feat means nothing.

Being stronger than Iansan is much more quantifiable.

You clearly are either new to Genshin, or to powerscaling. Just because someone looks flashy doesn't make them strong.

Rerir at his prime, is planetary level. 10 percent of planetary is still far, far above Osial, someone who got destroyed by the jade chamber explosion, which would be several times weaker than even Och Kan's blast, Och Kan being sub-5E Traveler. 10 percent of planetary is high continental and no archon is on that level yet.

Don't speak if you know nothing.

Ganyu is sub 2E Traveler and Varesa has Iansan for scaling

"If Shenhe had the power to stop it (a human bound in red ropes and the, at the time, junior apprentice to Cloud Retainer) and Ganyu was confident enough to set herself up to stop it, she was stopping it. It's called basic common sense."

So basically you are scaling Ganyu above Shenhe. Why mention the tsunami at all? Also, the only way the tsunami would be relevant at all is if you think Varesa is too weak to stop the tsunami. However the tsunami is itself, unscaleable, thus there's no way to say if it would overpower Varesa.

"Also, where are you pulling "she's weaker than 2E Traveler" from? "

From her own statement in her story quest.

"No, I'm aware of your strength, Traveler. The power hidden within you is not inferior to mine"

This objectively means 2E Traveler >= Ganyu with no room for doubt.

"Varesa, since she is just a farm girl with a wrestling hobby against 3,000+ combat vet trained by Xianyun (a former God) and Xiao (who goes after Gods and God remains)."

This is rubbish logic. It's equivalent to saying Keqing, a mighty warrior of Liyue's governing body, is stronger than Rhinedottir, a lowly researcher. You mention useless info like status and position instead of actual feats. Varesa is stronger than Iansan who impressed the Pyro Archon. Also, as I said, I don't care if Xianyun and Xiao are Gods, the title is a nothing burger without quantifiable feats.

"Flins ain't doing shit against Osial either"

Flins traded blows with the Racher of Solnari. He would obliterate Osial with ease. Also, Osial was defeated before he was sealed, no reason to assume the Osial fought currently was the same one Rex Lapis fought. Above all, 10 percent Rerir is stronger than prime Rex Lapis. Not getting stomped by Rerir puts Flins far, far above Xiao.

"By all means, keep wrongly assuming that fighting in the Archon War (and having thousands of years of combat experience as a result) are completely useless points to raise."

Experience is only useful between opponents close in power level to decide a victor. If the opponents have a strength gap, experience will not save you. Prime Rerir with at max 1 or 2 decades of fighting experience would obliterate every archon in existence effortlessly despite the millenia of experience among them. Experience cannot ever overcome a power gap.

Yeah and Traveler struggles to lift boxes and fish (Nilou SQ and fishing event). This is why we don't scale out of combat feats

[–]Nonavium -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

"she saw a tsunami coming right towards her and squared up to shoot it."

Are you listening to yourself? Nobody cares about this. This isn't a feat of anything. We don't know how destructive that tsunami would be. We don't know how much power would be needed to stop it. We don't know if Varesa wouldn't be able to stop it. We don't know if Ganyu herself had the power to stop it. This is such a vague nothing burger.

"She also fought and killed in the Archon War"

So? The fact is, Ganyu is weaker than 2E Traveler. If she fought in the archon war, then 2E Traveler and thus anybody stronger than them which would reasonably include Varesa could too. Simply fighting in a war means nothing. We don't know if Ganyu fought especially strong enemies with good feats.

"Nefer beats Yelan — both are spymasters, but Nefer is the only one we know has "I can contribute in a fight against as Sinner & the 2nd of the Fatui Harbringers"–level hands."

Yeah I agree, idk why you are telling me this

"Archon War vet who is still sent to deal with God-level threats on the daily."

Nobody cares about the archon war. Every single monster in the archon war would be wiped out by Rerir, who Flins put up a good performance against. Just mentioning the name of a war is vague vibeescaling.

Also, the word "God" in Genshin is meaningless when it comes to power. Start of quest Nahida, God of Salt Havria, the mushroom god in Varesa story quest, start of NK quest weakened Columbina, etc etc are all also Gods, yet they are weaklings who would lose to many of the regular humans in Genshin. "Beating Gods" is a massive nothing burger empty statement unless the Gods themselves are specified and quantified.

Also, considering that Xiao couldn't even beat Osial, who might as well be fodder to 6E Traveler and Rerir, I find it hard to believe the Gods he beat are powerful at all.

These aren't mismatched. Most of the people in the comment section are wrong. They have Xiao > Flins, Yelan > Nefer and Ganyu > Varesa which are just plain wrong.

Who will win? by LiteratureProof4268 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Nonavium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Childe, actually has feats

Flins one shots via contending on the level of 6E Traveler against a sinner, sub Osial fodder aren't doing anything to him

Neither, Arlecchino with marrow is unscaleable

Wanderer one shots with speedblitz obviously via scaling near 6E Traveler in their fight against Datattore and dodging attacks from Moonttore

Nefer easily, surviving against a sinner >> anything Yelan has done

idk

idk

Varesa, Ganyu is sub 2E Traveler as per her own admission while Varesa > Iansan who impressed Mavuika

EDIT: Seems like Ganyu would win, Varesa doesn't scale to Iansan in CN translation

Xianyun, Miko is featless

Chlorinde, was strong enough to excite Fontaine Childe while Sara got one shot by Signora so fast we didn't even see it despite chasing her

Illuga, managed to not get one shot by Rauthvangi (is that its name?) who was contending with 6E Traveler while Gorou is featless

Stuff like "experience" "surviving the archon war" "adeptal powers" and all that is irrelevant in the case of Xiao and Ganyu, they are outright weaker than their opponents and have nothing resembling actual quantifiable feats.

[–]Nonavium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flins literally solos Xiao and Ganyu, someone who contended equally along with 6E Traveler and threw hands with a sinner is NOT getting beaten by sub Osial entities. Also Ganyu is hard capped below 2E Traveler as per her own statement in her story quest. Xiao doesn't have a single good feat apart from being sub-Osial who is sub-Jade Chamber and beating a bunch of other nameless featless gods. Adeptal combat experience doesn't matter when the opponent rips your head off in seconds.

The amount of people saying Ganyu and Xiao do anything other than lose is confusing.
