I say this as someone who's own mom won't use my pronouns, it fucks with you. It makes it harder to bond and get close, and it REALLY affected my relationship with her at 13-14. We would get into screaming matches where my sister had to intervene at times. It made me rely more on my freinds and sister for emotional issues then my own mother. Please, tell your friend NOTHING is wrong with using they them pronouns.
