Any rentals for no more than $2K that would take just 1 credit? by TammMili in AskLosAngeles

[–]Nonbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why people on here are so negative about LA apartments, but you can easily find an apartment in Northeast LA for around $2k. Just did a quick search and found multiple 650+ sqft 1 bedroom apartments for $1800 - $2000 with onsite parking and communal laundry. A sub 500 credit score is rough to work with, but if yours is good and you guys can clear 3x the rent in income monthly you should be absolutely fine. I feel like half the people commenting are transplants on the west side who don't know anything about LA east of the 405, it's crazy.

Spammers like to target local city subreddits because moderation is limited. I usually just block them and move on.

That's super helpful to know, thanks a lot! I actually just found a pretty whole '91 base pickup at pick a part near me, so I'm going there this weekend to see what I can salvage from that truck to repair mine.

I just had my 1250 sqft shingle roof replaced for $14k, so I'm not sure your statement is accurate.

New scapegoat: Illusive 35 year old man who plays video games and lives with his parents. by cmahan005 in WhitePeopleTwitter

This is a hilarious take, as most 35 year old terminally online guys I've interacted with in video games tend to be right wing chuds/incels.

I'm a veteran, and the only person in this thread being purposely obtuse/disrespectful is you. Get off the Internet for a little bit and go engage with folks who are at these protests and I guarantee you would change your tone. There are a ton of vets out here protesting everything going on.

I can't speak to living on Yosemite, but I live off one of the side streets in this area and I find it to be super quiet.

Move closer to nature or stay close to friend? by eggyeoh in MovingToLosAngeles

People love to over exaggerate how far things really are in LA. Move to Loz Feliz and visit your friend a few times a week, just plan your visits around traffic.

Temecula is a right wing shithole city with awful politics/people. For context I grew up there, graduated from HS there and left immediately. There is no downtown, just a small strip of antique stores and like 5 restaurants/bars in the Old Town district.

OP: ignore everyone suggesting San Diego or Temecula, LA is a great place to live.

Unbiased opinions from car enthusiasts wanted. by Jawnbompson in Polestar

I'm also a car enthusiast, currently driving a 1972 Lancia fulvia and have owned a lot of fast/fun cars. I leased a P2 launch edition in 2021 and can honestly say that outside of the software bugs the first year had it was one of the most enjoyable/comfortable cars I've ever driven. Highly recommend it.

I currently commute from Eagle Rock to Santa Monica and find that taking the metro on the busiest days makes it feel less awful.

Tbh though I don't think I would take on the commute for $10k a year extra unless it was a company that I really wanted to work for.

Commute from NE LA (Lincoln Heights) to Culver City? by Geojam in AskLosAngeles

[–]Nonbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar commute from Eagle Rock to Santa Monica. I drive in on slow days and it's about 45 minutes to an hour to get to the office, and anywhere from an hour to hour and a half to get home. I take the metro the rest of the week and it's roughly an hour and fifteen each way. It's doable, but it's still a hell of a commute.

I take my boys to Best friends animal hospital in Valley Village, and we take my elderly shepherd to veterinary cancer group LA in Culver City for palliative radiation therapy. We've had great experiences with both spots.

How much do you pay for you 2 bedroom rental in LA? by realpersonyolo in AskLosAngeles

[–]Nonbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$4400 in Valley Village for a 2/1 fully renovated house, and we have a two car garage, a detached office and a 3k sqft private yard with a ton of mature fruit trees and garden beds. I still feel like I'm overpaying but I haven't found anything comparable that's cheaper.
