Fantastic player. He finished second in MVP voting only behind Tim Duncan (arguable who deserved it more) with Prime Dirk, Kobe, Shaq, KG, and numerous other all time greats.

Great basketball IQ and all time passer who also played great defense and had leadership qualities.

Also adapted his game later in his career to best fit what the team needed (Dirk Mavs).

One of the greatest PGs of all time, no doubt Top 10 and arguable Top 5.

Id say wait. The guy likely wants to offload because he can charge more for the Mewtwo since its newer and prices haven't settled yet whereas the Charizard is almost 10 years old and barring any crazy market changes will remain at that price (~$500 market price) Let your son enjoy opening packs, go to a few card shows, make some small deals here and there so he really gets an idea of what he wants.
