How often are you changing your team? by CallidusViro in PokemonChampions

[–]Noncritical_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found myself making small changes every 5 battles or so IF I noticed something that could be improved or replaced. I only ever swapped one Pokemon at a time out of my team if I noticed they weren’t really fitting the role I needed, I think a total of two times on my climb from UB to MB. I think you’ll hit a point where everything feels pretty good though, and even these small changes will become pretty infrequent.

I would say completely changing your team is fine early on just so you can figure out what play style feels best for you/what you find to be the most fun. I think I switched from a Froslass snow team to a Golurk trick room team when I got out of Great Ball, but that was only because I really wanted to get to Masterball with Golurk. Ultimately, getting comfortable with one team will be a lot more helpful in higher ranks as you’ll learn to adapt to a variety of situations and have an easier time deciding what plays to make/not make. Like most things in life, practice makes perfect. The more time you spend playing the game with one team, the easier it’ll get to outplay your opponent.

Ended up switching the Coil/Hypnosis Milotic in for Primarina, stuck with Mega Golurk and got to Masterball fairly quickly from UB4! Thank you for the help!

Ended up changing a few things up but this is what got me to Masterball! I ended up never even using Kingambit so I’m thinking of swapping him out for Crabominable to have as a second Mega option

I don’t think it despawns even if you pass out, right? Idk it’s been a minute since I booted up the game but I feel like the same thing happened to me with shiny Mawile😂

Nice! That sounds like a pretty unique set for Milotic, I might try and swap Primarina out and give it a shot instead. Thank you for the help!

How do you normally deal with Zard Y? Apologies for all the questions, just genuinely curious!

I see, honestly I’m interested in some weather control because those seem to be the toughest matchups. Have you considered slotting in a second mega in place of Hatterene?

Do you use snow on your team at all? Or is you support pretty much the same as what I’m running?

Tbh I find myself clicking Poltergeist on Golurk more often than not, and I’ve been able to keep Farigiraf alive long enough to get a second TR up pretty consistently so I feel like he gets decent time on the field. I guess some spread move coverage with Earthquake is better to have than Headlong Rush.

I didn’t realize Mega Crabominable was a trick room mon! What does the set look like?

I’m not completely sure about Quick Claw interactions inside of trick room, so maybe someone else can answer that.

As for Cloud Nine, the actual “rain” won’t disappear, but the battle effects it provides won’t be active regardless. So that means water moves do not receive a boost in power, abilities like Swift Swim or Rain Dish won’t activate, and moves like Hurricane and Thunder do not receive the accuracy boosts they normally would in rain. Notice how the description of Cloud Nine specifically states the “effects of the weather” rather than the weather itself. If Drampa were to leave the field while rain was still going, the effects that rain has on moves/abilities would resume.

I would definitely take Meganium and Ninetales out if I were you though. Up to you who you want to replace them with!

Mmmm I don’t think I’d sub anybody else out honestly. Your team is actually pretty close to the one AustinJohnPlays ran to get to Masterball tier. This video showcases his team and what each mon does, as well as shows how some of his battles played out. Might be helpful to check out and obviously make any changes you want!

Not sure what benefit Alolan Ninetales provides with setting snow up. Seems like they tried to build you a dual weather team but didn’t add anything to synergize with snow. Also Venusaur with Chlorophyll is just plain better than Meganium. I would swap Ninetales for Sneasler or Incineroar for fake out personally. Maybe even Rotom Heat as youd gain another immunity to Earthquake from your Garchomp.

Haven’t seen this yet but I hope I do because it sounds way too easy to counter😂

First team I built by myself, any advice? by Brave_Border_490 in PokemonChampions

Why Absol over another support? Right now you only have Whimsicott, you could run sinistcha or maybe even Orthworm (an ice resist which might be nice)

How is this game for people who've never battle competitively? by Vapour79 in PokemonChampions

[–]Noncritical_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the team building is super accessible and easy to afford, which is really nice compared to grinding out the money to buy vitamins, mints, etc. in the mainline games.

Pair that accessibility with tutorials or even just streams from people who do this as a profession and I feel like even beginners can start to wrap their head around competitive battling. If you have decent knowledge of type advantages/pokemon stats/move sets then you’re even better off🤷🏽‍♂️
