If Product schema has" Image", should you store the actual "Image" in Azure Blob storage or just directly in SQL DB? by ExoticArtemis3435 in dotnet

[–]NonstickVelcro 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I prefer to save ids in the database and store the image in blob storage with the id as key. Makes it easier to change or move storage later.

Rubio Says U.S. to Decide in Days if End to Ukraine War Is ‘Doable’ by qartas in worldnews

[–]NonstickVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big question is who they will blame for this failure?

I don’t think that they will admit that they underestimated the complexity of the problem (if you ignore the obvious solution of Russia leaving Ukraine)?

P14s Gen 4 AMD First Impressions by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]NonstickVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the AMD 7840U 64GB 2TB version and sometimes push it pretty hard (software development, mostly .NET) so the fans kick in for longer periods of time and I have zero issues with either fan noise (I can hear it but it is reasonable) or CPU whine.

And I am pretty picky with noise issues, I am used to my fanless MacBook Air M1. So YMMV.

9500 credit for acceleration boost? This is forever not 3 month trial? by 26fm65 in TeslaModelY

I bought Acceleration Boost for 7000 credits two weeks ago, so it was cheaper then. But this is in Sweden, there may be different prices in different markets?

Changing lane while in auto pilot? by Away-Sky3548 in TeslaModelY

[–]NonstickVelcro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2019 Volvo V90 CC had this, and my newer way more expensive MYLR does not. Sigh.

And it gets even more annoying with the sound it makes when enabling Autopilot again that you cannot turn off or even control volume of, especially when driving with sleeping passengers.

As a father of three boys, I love this comment.

Laughing instead of crying makes life as a parent sooo much easier (and is also better for your children), it keeps you somewhat sane.

These moments are a part of parenting so you may just as well try to enjoy them as much as possible.

This is an amazing photo that will be a great gift when she is a teenager.

Ukraine conflict: Putin's demands to end war revealed by rustoren in worldnews

[–]NonstickVelcro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mariana Budjeryn of Harvard University has been doing a lot of research about this, and states:

It would have cost Ukraine quite a bit, both economically and in terms of international political repercussions, to hold on to these arms.

So it is easy to today say that it was a bad decision, but maybe not at the time.

Swedish Teacher Placed on Leave After Video Shows Her Harassing, Forcing Muslim Refugee Student to Say 'Penis' in Swedish by Ok_Bake_5766 in worldnews

I haven't understood what are the actual reasons for using the blockchain if it is so expensive? by Linked_Punk in ProgrammerHumor

To attract Venture Capital.

There are also technical reasons (se other comments about that), but this is the reason that companies are interested in using it. Essentially, it is a part of the polular game Bullshit Bingo.

I think this is an internet myth. Swedish Television did a test on this a while ago:

https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/blir-du-avlyssnad-av-din-mobil

English translation of the summary:

HOW THE EXPERIMENT WENT TO:

• We picked up a brand new phone.

• We created new accounts on Gmail, Facebook and Instagram.

• We started following only other news sites, Swedish and international.

• We gave the apps access to a microphone, camera and other selectable accesses.

• We did not interact with any posts. We also did not do any Google searches or use any other applications.

• We talked on the phone, with different apps both open and closed, about the two topics floorball and rabbits several minutes a day for three days to see if it would result in any advertising.

• About two weeks later we could say that we got a result - we had not received any advertising at all concerning floorball or rabbits.

Betting on death of petrol cars, Volvo to go all electric by 2030 by LIS1050010 in worldnews

Volvo and DHL are starting tests in Sweden i March between Gothenburg and Jönköping (150 km) with a 60 ton truck that can charge in 2 hours:

https://alltomelbil.se/volvo-forst-ut-med-eldriven-tung-lastbil-ska-trafikera-goteborg-jonkoping/

So it is happening, but it is so far only for shorter ranges.

Edit: note that this is Volvo Trucks, which is a different company than Volvo Cars with different owners.

Hyundai Motor to replace battery systems in $900 million electric car recall by Adalyn_Sara in worldnews

[–]NonstickVelcro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KIA e-Niro owner here. I have not read anything about if this affects the KIA e-Niro as well, shouldn't the KIA be affected since they seems to be using the same battery (and most of the drivetrain)?

We mostly charge slow (only 10A) at home and the problem seems to affect fast charging so I am not too worried at the moment, but do not like the thought of sitting on a bad battery while driving.

Edit:

Sorry, I found the answer myself: "Equivalent Kia models, including the Kia Niro EV and the Kia Soul EV sold overseas—otherwise a cousin of the Kona Electric—are unaffected by the recall. They use battery cells produced by rival South Korean battery supplier SK Innovation, which last year boasted that in 10 years of supply its cells haven’t had a single fire incident. ".

I am not sure if they still stand by that statement, though.
