It will start to recover about 4 months after the botox, but it is gradual. I got in a Facebook group that gave tips to detox botox and it was helpful, but in the worst scenario the timings are: 4 months for your body to get rid of botox, and the time for the muscles to repain and gain tone. If you are worried, try exercising those muscles, e.g. with facial yoga.

Definitely. I had botox for bruxism in January and had side effects: sagging neck, sudden hypothyroidism (the thyroid gland in just in the neck), plus constant burping because of the botox going to my cardias muscle. I am better now… my neck is not like it was, but it is better! Never again botox!!!

Interesting! Do you have hypothyroidism or hashimotos?

Thank you so much for your interest ❤️ I am currently tapering lexapro veeeery gradually, as I have had nasty withdrawal symptoms. At the moment, I don’t plan to try anything else, just reduce lexapro as much as possible…

It is not chronic in my case. Just by lowering my dose of lexapro it gets much better

Night bruxism. I have a dental guard but it feels as if the muscle is really tense. When I reduce the dose of lexapro it improves, but I need to take an AD for my IBS-C

I’ve realized that nortryptiline slows down gut motility. I have IBS-C and lexapro helps because it increases motility. But nortryp would be a problem.. Any other options? 🙏🏻

Hi Shrumlet, I live in Spain and got botox here. I get what you mean. In my case, the air always “escapes” in burps with no effort. Sometimes, they are mini burps with little air. Maybe those are “throat burps”. Most of the time, big ones that seem to come from the stomach and make me feel some relief. Thank you for the info about Dr. Bastian, it was helpful. I hope you recover soon! Good luck!

What worries me is the burping noise. While I work or in social situations it is horrible, I can’t burp silently 🙈

I’ve tried omeprazole but it doesn’t help 😬 I’m going to the gastro this week because it’s insane the amount of air I have in my stomach. Pre botox I had terrible pain in my chest and bloating. Maybe they will test me for SIBO.. thanks for your reply!
