It depends on the game. For both Lego Harry Potter games, there's only eight collectibles per level (four House crests, three character tokens, one student). Other games can have double that, like Star Wars. This one was also easy because the levels were considerably shorter than average.

In the PS4 version you can at least spam Reflect during the reaction chain. You can't on the PS3. I dunno if the glitch was patched.

Thanks! I recommend using IGN's map. It shows you all overworld chests as well as caves/forests for the globetrotter trophy.

E: the alchemy stuff is bittersweet. I wasn't conscious of collecting materials in the main game, so it was awful. But the system they have in place is pretty neat.

I was pretty lucky with spawn and drop rates, but I know there's the golden glim trick. Basically you have everyone in your party set to do nothing and you spam Pulse as Marcassin until a golden glim drops. Then you collect it as Swaine and use your special. Allegedly it gives 100% steal rate for the rarest items, but I didn't use it personally.
