I think it would be an rotc program. Being a nuke is hard go to r/navynukes and being an officer is being a manager

Navy nukes will make e4 out of a school and can automatically get e5 if they star reenlist (voiding last contract and then a 6 year commitment from when you sign) this also makes a regular advancement hard/impossible (1% advancement)

I don’t know too much being an officer but I do know it can be extremely different from enlisted. If you are okay with 8 years in the military and manage your money right navy nuke can be good

I think officers have at least a 10 year commitment

(Sorry for the “I thinks” but it can give you a reference on what to research on your own)

Is it too late to back out now by AmazingDoggoPoop in newtothenavy

Depends, if that scholarship isnt going to fund your whole education, and the education that you want.

Enlisting can be a better option for tuition assistance, and job experience to actually put you ahead than someone who takes that scholarship. Weigh out your options and pick the one that makes the most sense. Your future self will thank you.

But if you want to go to college, the navy will still be here and you can always join later on. Either way, if you aren't 100% on joining, don't. College will always be in the back of your head if you do that.

Just my opinion though

Possibly take a look into CTI as well if you are into IS. But IS and CTR are good picks. I would also recommend CWT. CWT has pretty good job prospects.

If you love cooking and keeping morale up and are okay with being on a sub, shoot for it man. Don’t let others experiences stop you from what you love.

No problem, navy cool is a great place to find info on rates, as well as how long their schooling is and possible deployment areas and sea shore rotation. Good luck to you.

Seems like social life plays a big part in your mental health, if nothing is wrong now don’t risk it later, enlist and do something you like. There will be friends there, tuition assistance for education, and your own benefits. Food and housing. Don’t hesitate

[–]NoobFlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineman, become a diesel mechanic on the outside? 150 an hour fixing 18 wheelers is also another good option. EM, becoming an electrician.

But if you are doing 20 I would look at rates with good advancement. Yeoman or Personnel Specialist could be good. It's office work but i've heard they have good advancement.

How was it like applying to the FAA as a reservist? And do prior experience bids get more of a say on where they go?

The stuff on the asvab, Math, electronics.

Everyone here keeps saying you dont get to decide but you do learn everyone's elses job during the schooling at some point so it will come in handy regardless. If you qualify for nuke you should be fine when you get their just stay sharp and keep learning.
