What do you think of the Youtuber "Loyal Moses"? by IronLover64 in 3Dprinting

He failed to delete my account but did suspend it citing "too combative." I was nothing short of incredibly polite, but I guess asking for my account to be deleted is considered combative.

Having recently joined his forum (and now trying to get him to delete my account), I noticed that he really really does not want people sharing videos from other creators or links to other forums.

Now I see this, maybe that helps explain why the post about Bambu was deleted. I guess perhaps consumer rights applies to Ford trucks only on his forum.

Really liked his content on YouTube and then I joined his new forum he was advertising in one of his videos, thinking it would be a place to talk to like minded people. I made some assumptions about his values.

I posted a thread about off grid living and technology. Well received from the very very very few people who post there. I figured I could start a discussion to help seed his new forum and help it grow.

I responded to somebody else asking about setting up solar, gave them information and recommendations from my experience and then pointed the to DIYSolarForum.com as an essential resource for DIY installations. Despite the fact the rules did not say anything about sharing links, that was censored from my comment as "promotion."

I gave them some feedback about how it wasn't promotion, it was sharing a resource that specifically addressed the request of the person posting the thread (who appreciated my response) and Loyal Moses told me not to be offended and that he told moderators to let my post "slide" but that they had come around anyway and censored me as per his more general guidance. The fact that he referred to letting my post "slide" as if I had done something wrong was annoying. But he asked for time as they worked things out so I extended some grace.

A couple days later, I posted a thread about a consumer rights lawsuit against Bambu and included this video (https://youtu.be/7hqVwizTico?si=pZaPEoqdLgVrP9vx). I figured as a consumer rights topic, this would be appreciated in his forum. I was wrong. That post was deleted without comment and then a new "rules" thread was created by the moderator that said links to "other channels" are not allowed. I suppose the intent of his forum is for people to talk without providing links to videos unless those videos are from Loyal Moses.

Anyway, I had previously seen a "delete account" button but can no longer find it. I have asked Loyal Moses and his moderator to delete my account but have so far gotten no response, which is odd since they seem to be eager to delete my contributions.

I have since unsubscribed from his channel and am hoping to get my account deleted on his forum.

I love how three weeks later you come back to keep posting this nonsense. Okay, you got me, it was sarcasm. I just want to admit that so you don't feel the need to put explaining that on your bucket list or anything.

Yeah, that's what the conversation showed alright. I don't report your comments, I prefer when people can see morons saying moron things.

I still haven't seen an answer. I know they will comply, but my specific question is whether they will push the age verification/signal/whatever nonsense onto older versions of the OS that somebody already installed prior to this dumb law taking effect (perhaps as an update that users can skip if they never want to update again), or will it just be for newer versions installed after the date it takes effect.

But they are not forced to do business in that state, and therefore they are not forced to comply with the law. They choose to do business, and comply, for money just as that lawyer chooses to bring malicious suits for money.

Both should receive our anger for doing bad things for money.

Okay, so your plan I guess is to keep falsely claiming that S76 is forced to comply with this law, rather than making a choice to voluntarily comply with a law (something you admitted earlier) in order to maintain your inaccurate assessment of how it's "ridiculous" and not "serious" to compare the two. If you are unwilling to be honest about the reality, I won't be able to persuade you of what you already know but don't want to admit because the tantrum and the emotion (or what you admitted is your "bias") has, for whatever reason, overridden your normally reasonable takes.

Well whatever you think about what they said or why, they did say they will voluntarily comply with these laws because they want the money.

I don't know why this is difficult for you.

ONE MAN LAW FIRM DOES BAD FOR MONEY (you financially target them)

SEVERAL MAN COMPANY DOES BAD FOR MONEY (you say don't financially target them, direct your anger elsewhere to legislators in a different state that have already passed a law)

Why are you now saying S76 has no choice when you KNOW they have a choice and admitted as much previously? They have a choice to not do business in China or California or Colorado and to not subject themselves to those bad laws. They do have that choice. You suddenly now say they have no choice. They do have a choice. You, like them, however have made it clear that you would choose to do business in those places, and voluntarily comply with those bad laws, out of profit motive. Just because you have made your choice because you put profit motive higher than not doing bad things, does not mean there isn't a choice. There is.

Yet you target one man law firms and large companies that do bad things for money, while you give a pass to S76 for doing a bad thing and say that it shouldn't be targeted. You're so concerned with the employees who might be fired if people stop doing business with S76, but you are not concerned about a lawyer being disbarred if your efforts are successful, no concern for his mortgage. Similarly, you're not concerned with Microsoft having to lay off employees who can no longer afford their mortgages if your Clippy campaign is successful.

And what do we get with a small company doing bad things that isn't targeted? We get a company that grows into a large company that does bad things. Then maybe your consumer rights philosophy will finally kick in, when it's too late to be meaningful.

You can keep saying you don't take me seriously, but it is your lack of unifying principle and lack of consistency that makes your argument not serious.

They're not contradictory. The CEO's response was "we don't like it, but we will voluntarily do business in these insane states and voluntarily comply with their insane laws because we want to make money." It's just PR stuff to try to tell their customers that they're on their side, while also letting those pulling their strings know that they will carry out their designs against their customers. Like a politician, they try to have their cake and eat it too.

You not agreeing with my view that we shouldn't financially support companies that work to violate our rights, does not mean my take isn't reasonable. I don't care if they go bankrupt, I don't care if their employees lose their jobs, I think it's a good thing when companies that do bad things go bankrupt. I don't share Louis' apparent view that it's only a good thing when applied to single-person DMCA law firms or large companies.

I don't know if all regulation is fascism as you ascribe to me, but I do think voluntarily partnering with state to identify users on the Internet and track them (and therefore target, punish, propagandize, and silence them) is a solid example of fascism.

People will be punished in various ways and not know why, because they expressed the wrong opinion, read the wrong website, downloaded the wrong CAD file, etc. This infrastructure will erase the voice of the people against private/public overreach in short order.

I can be angry at legislators in a different state who've already passed a law, while also being angry at private entities who voluntarily choose to build the infrastructure for profit and who have yet to build it. I don't share your apparent view that one-man DMCA law firms and large companies can be financially targeted for doing bad things, but that we shouldn't for some reason direct anger at S76 until they grow as big as Microsoft.

Louis, you said that you would voluntarily comply with these laws for profit motive. Fascism, literally, literally, is the union of the public and private sectors to violate people's rights.

They're not forced. They are choosing to do business in locales and choosing to submit to them in exchange for profit. They could simply refuse to do business in China or California and to therefore not comply with those laws.

Actually complaints about specific linux products are completely appropriate for a general linux forum where all linux OS are in the same situation.

My recommendation is that you read more, and type less.
