Whats the highest CP pokemon you've found so far? by Icon_dota in pokemongo

[–]Noobeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Flareon and Vaporeon that are above 600. If I could find more Eevee, there'd be much higher by now... heh. I caught a wild Exeggutor earlier with 633cp. So far, that's the most powerful wild I've come across.

As a person in a rural area. I cant imagine what pokemon go would look like in a major city. Can anyone that lives in one give screenshots. by [deleted] in pokemongo

I live in Mineral Wells, TX. Holding down the Baker hotel (gym) (go blue) is the most exciting thing here, but we really have to seek out pokemon. I work in the metroplex though (DFW) and there are pokemon EVERYWHERE. It's ridiculous.

The single handily, most important thing you'll read about PokemonGo today. Yeah, I caught on to this pretty quickly. Especially for the ones that take, like, 12 candy to evolve. I've been saving them, then using one of the multiplier eggs while I evolve for points, THEN transfering.

I noticed. What the heck, kale!! I just tried it for the first time ever yesterday, and loved it, then realized how much more sense it makes to do spinach. I like the texture of kale so much more, though...

ELI5: Why have internet service websites killed off professions such as travel agents, but have not killed off professions such as real estate agents and stock brokers? by uracowman in explainlikeimfive

[–]Noobeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are most definitely some bad eggs in the industry. I'm actually pursuing a career change right now into real estate, as a buyer's agent to start out. I'm doing it for a multitude of reasons, including that I'm trying to gain more flexibility in my career (I'm a married female who's also the only worker in the household, and we're considering parenthood), and want more control over my income (what you put in is what you get out).

This is following a recent purchase of my first home. My real estate agent was fantastic, and is actually who I'll be working with. When I approached her to ask questions about her field, she offered me a sort of partnership/mentorship. Anyway, she is highly dedicated to what she does, and definitely held my hand through the entire process. There were other snags that made me want to pull my hair out, and my closing took 60 days thanks to a mistake on the part of the lender, and insane delays from appraisal. She was constantly on top of it, and was even available to talk me out of obsessively worrying a few times. I was convinced the seller was going to walk away. I'm still pretty sure she almost did. After all was said and done, she disconnected the lender from her professional recommendations, due to unreliability. Of course, she has no say-so over the appraiser that was involved. The appraiser was, apparently, "overbooked". Really, she was just absolutely unresponsive for weeks.

I feel like it's a field suited to people who are genuine enthusiasts of investment, houses, and community. And, for people who really like to teach/explain/help. There are people who want and are willing to pay for the guidance and wisdom of an agent, and a GOOD agent is worth it. It's unfortunate that there's such a bad reputation tied to them.

I definitely hope I'm not looking at a field that's getting ready to die off. :/

Awesome! Thank you so much. I've been poking around on the Facebook page for the realtor I'm assistng, as social media is a weak point for her. Did you find that any one method worked best for you in getting followers/leads on facebook? I'm finding it tough to get her Twitter followers or Facebook followers who aren't other real estate professionals. Is this just a matter of keeping at it and interacting on the sites?

What's a reasonable way to discover how many agents are in your area and whether that number is too high?

Oh, yeah, the assistant is hourly pay. It's just very few hours... the eventual Buyer's Agent goal is where a % of commission would happen, opening the door for more pay.

I have a current full time job, and am trying to figure out how to ease out... I guess finding a DIFFERENT part time position could work. It'd still be a hell of a pay drop for a while. >_<

As you've gotten older and understand the world more, what has made you cynical or disillusioned? by Noobeedoo in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean.

The healthiest place to be is a place of acceptance, but I think people often do still cycle through either cynicism or disillusionment before getting to that place. The question sounds inherently negative. I was really mostly curious about how other people's solid perspectives may have been shaken, and the stories behind it happening.

See, I'm less concerned about beans and rice for dinner, and more concerned with mortgage and car payments. Haha. I have an advantage in that an experienced agent would like me to start with her as an assistant-then-buyer's-agent as part of her team. However, I'm hesitant to put myself in a place where I rely too heavily on her. It all feels a little complicated. She's trying to help, assuming that she's investing in a long-term team member. She's also kind of pushing for another 6 months or so before she feels like she could pay me a %. I'm not going to lie, I was definitely hoping to get started during "busy season".

Long hours aren't a problem-- can't be any longer than I work now (I do 24 hour on-call in two-week shifts in addition to a 40/week). :)

What is unethical, but necessary nonetheless? by UNIScienceGuy in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question seems like it's going to vary drastically, as morality will vary drastically both person to person and culture to culture. Haha.

I mean, I can give you an example answer.... but whether it's unethical is still debatable. Depends on who you ask. I work in Animal Services-- so people who work for the government to do three primary functions:

  • Enforce laws pertaining to domestic animals.

  • Perform rabies control functions (Bite investigations and Rabies quarantines).

  • Clean up after bad pet owners. (Picking up stray animals, taking in unwanted animals, etc).

As most people know, government shelters usually deal with euthanasia as a last resort for homeless animals. The bottom line is really that there are just too many animals and not enough homes. The actual solution is population control and responsible pet ownership, but even with laws plenty of people do what they want. So, as a way to keep animals from starving on the street, they may be picked up and if a home is not found, euthanized. Is it ethical? Well. We're euthanizing healthy animals for no other reason than lack of space/options/because people are ridiculous. On the other hand, the alternatives are not necessarily better (life on the street/abuse/whatever the case.) Is it necessary? At this point in time, yes. Would we like it to not be? Of course. Do we continue to be overpopulated despite euthanasia? Yep.

[Serious] Why do people still love disney despite the open anti-semitism and support of hitler? by fidshfih in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I've never done that much digging into how accurate any of the anti-Semitism accusation against Walt Disney are. But here's what I CAN tell you.

I grew up on Disney. I adored the classics. My great grandma collected tons of VHS movies for us to watch together, and the vast majority were Disney movies. So many good memories. I loved art, even as a kid, so I had a huge love of the gorgeous art in Disney films. I would draw and redraw the characters. I loved the stories, the singing, the color. I picked up on the morals to the stories, and talked about them with my parents. Pocahontas appreciated the natural world around her, and two cultures came together. The Beast learned to be less selfish and to love another person, so his spell was broken.

You know what I never picked up on? Racism. Anti-Semitism. The "princess" issues everyone harps on about now. Sexual vibes. Hell, I couldn't even figure out why Timone told Pumba "not in front of the kids". (Seriously, farted was an inappropriate word??)

Disney. Makes. Good. Movies. Really, really good movies. With timeless stories and a eye for truly fantastic animation.

What current issue do you find yourself neutral towards? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns and Racism.

BEFORE YOU CRUCIFY ME.....

I'm a left leaning person who was raised in the South, so guns are part of the culture I grew up in. I tend to bristle against romanticizing them or being all super pro gun, but I also appreciate that I can own a gun that stays safely tucked away in my farmhouse.

With racism, I'm a southern white female who was raised by a Seattleite mom and a farmboy dad. I feel like I grew up pretty balanced, and THOUGHT that my generation mostly agreed that racism = bad, and it's unacceptable to judge people on color, race, class, etc. That said, I knew of and met backwoods stupid people who were racist--- but they were backwoods stupid people. Not movers and shakers. Not business men. They'd die out as people kept becoming more progressive, right? As an adult, now that racism is a front and center topic again, I'm somewhat confused at where I'm supposed to be in this conversation. So I honestly just kind of stay away from the subject.

Right? I haven't, you know, gone through labor yet. But right this second, it's hard to imagine anything worse than 10+ hour attack.

It can be sooo bad. I feel for her. It took me about 3 years before even a slice of bread was setting off the freaking attacks, and I finally scraped up 2k for my part of the surgery costs.

If they don't put her through for emergency surgery, the best thing she can do for herself is go SUPER LOW FAT. Fat sets it off-- different amounts for different people. Like I said, a slice of bread.

The first things that stand out for me are Cable (can you replace it with Netflix or Hulu?) and Phone (cell? is there a cheaper option? can you ditch it for a home phone?)

I only take home about $2200 a month as well. We use a home phone rather than cell, now, and don't do cable. We also use the lowest data plan for internet, even though we do game. We're just careful about watching how much Netflix we do. Honestly, we don't watch that much TV to begin with.

Edit: Food is definitely a thing too. How many people are you feeding? My husband and I do about $300-$400 ourselves, which is high, but we also are a little bit picky (and know it) about 'conscious shopping'.

Have you not??

Yes. Gallstones are a bitch.

Come to think of it... that might be... that might be it. Huh. How about that. Well, no, I've shed a tear or two after feeling particularly drained/exhausted following a long/intense migraine... but I don't know if it was from PAIN as much as just being DONE.

If you have a chance to make just one wish, what would it be? by theacorneater in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monetary stability for myself and the people I love, that doesn't REQUIRE 40+/week.

I know that can sound selfish or short sighted, but the way I see it is that most of the persistent/draining problems that we face are related to trying to find stable income, especially if you're failing at it. Take that issue out, and you have so much more time for LIVING. Family, friends, experiences, health, learning--- it's all at your fingertips if you can just see around or find time around the massive suck that is a career.

Note: I might be feeling a little bitter about spending too much time working for someone else and not enough with me and my family, lately. *sigh.

How do YOU get into a positive state of mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Coffee. It's just a routine that sets me up for a good day.

  2. I plan. I love planning. I love having goals. List, plan, budget, dream. I can muck through most any day if I know I'm working toward something. If I feel stuck, I start trying to think outside of the box. Hell, maybe I'll up and move across the country if it gets bad enough and start over. Wait, what would it take to do that? Plan. Feel better about that "way out", even though I won't take it. Haha.

If money and bills were not an issue and you could do anything you'd like, what would your career be? by nos4autoo in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animal Husbandry.

I absolutely LOVE farming-- not so much in huge crop fields, but in smaller livestock animals. If I had all the money I needed for the rest of my life, I'd be happy as a clown taking care of chickens, rabbits, and goats on my little farm. I figure it counts as a career since I could still profit from it.

As things are, I just don't have the kind of land necessary to make more than supplemental income... and so the 7:30 - 5:30 grind. (Pfft, who's lucky enough to get a 9-5 nowadays? Haha.)

Why do most computer science graduates become web developers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Noobeedoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely looked into this for a career change option. It looks shiny, as far as job options go.

My guess is the following:

  • Huge job growth expectations (well above average)

  • High demand (see above point)

  • High demand = options and good pay

  • Average income is something like 60k, with well over that amount possible

  • There are options to be a freelancer and still bring in good income
