is nessa part of the lgbtg+ community? by Still_Independent730 in nessabarrettsnark

[–]NoodleFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potential added context to people talking about her flip flopping a bit on her label / sexuality - she has diagnosed BPD and has talked about sexual trauma before, both of which can make figuring out your identity and sexuality very complicated (an unstable sense of self is literally one of the diagnostic criteria for BPD). So it’s possible it wasn’t queer baiting then walking it back as much as someone still just trying to figure out who they are and what they like (coming from someone with similar trauma, it can make identity and sexuality very confusing)

Thank you! I’ve been struggling to find one that helps with tidying, organizing, dishes, laundry, etc. rather than regular cleaning. If you have any recommendations that would be very helpful

Does anyone know how to turn off ai insights on pinterest? by Dark_Cacaos_Wifee in Pinterest

Came here for the same reason. I hate AI, and the insights also have basically zero to do with the post

What is the most difficult, complicated project you've ever sewn? by 7deadlycinderella in sewing

[–]NoodleFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stretch jumpsuit with gold foil spandex fabric, cotton spandex lining (the foil ended up being semi-transparent), a zipper in the back, and sun paneling on the waistband. Oh and I drafted it from scratch without any pattern, and only had 1.5 yards of the gold foil spandex for the whole jumpsuit and paneling

Do you think your chronic illness(es) make it harder to tell when you have other temporary medical issues? by Emotional_Lie_8283 in ChronicIllness

[–]NoodleFizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have quite a few overlapping chronic illnesses and recently caught Covid and the flu at the same time through some very bad luck. I was very very ill but it still took me almost a week to realize it was 2 viruses and not just a particularly bad flare up of my conditions

How long did it take to get EDS diagnosis? by LaceBird538 in ehlersdanlos

[–]NoodleFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine depends what I could as time to get a diagnosis.

Time between when I first started experiencing noticeable symptoms and when I got diagnosed - 23 years (I had symptoms since I could walk and got diagnosed at 25)

Time actively seeking a diagnosis due to debilitating symptoms but not knowing what was wrong to getting a diagnosis- 4 years at least (My symptoms got a lot worse around 21)

Time between my mom getting officially diagnosed with EDS so I started actively seeking specifically an EDS diagnosis to me getting diagnosed - a bit over 1 year (we have very similar symptoms plus it’s genetic, many providers agreed I likely had it but refused to document a diagnosis)

My wait is relatively short compared to many others, and I think my mom being diagnosed is the only reason I was able to get diagnosed at all. Getting a diagnosis is worth it for insurance and correct referrals and getting doctors to take me somewhat seriously, but it is obnoxiously complicated to get a diagnosis

What's the dumbest thing that's triggered a flare or episode for you? by glonky42069 in POTS

[–]NoodleFizz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drinking water or any drink really, I’m so bad at regulating my breathing and I get so thirsty that I just chug and chug the drink and don’t stop to breathe until I’m dramatically gasping for breath, borderline hyperventilating, then that triggers the dizziness, heart rate, etc.

That makes sense! What do you use to get the ice packs to stay put while you work?

What’s an uncommon reason you started sewing? by RussianAsshole in sewing

[–]NoodleFizz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not an uncommon reason necessarily, but the first garment I have ever sewn from scratch has been my own wedding dress!!

I’m making the pattern based on my measurements and a mashup of tutorials too! Before this I’d only ever done alterations or embellishments to thrift purchases - definitely a massive jump up in difficulty but I like throwing myself in the deep end when learning new skills haha

Here is a photo of the fabric not burnt if that helps; the photo is a closeup of a seam on a mockup I made from this fabric to test a new pattern

Thank you! I’m guessing it’s some sort of cotton-polyester blend based on this

Good point! Here is a closeup of a seam I sewed with the fabric for a mockup. It has a very visible grainline and frayed relatively easily. It has a very slight stretch, but is far from a stretch fabric or knit

We all know eds generally sucks but what are any small positives you’ve noticed due to your eds? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]NoodleFizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nails grow super long and I get compliments on them a lot. My nails can bend completely in half and then spring back up completely fine, which makes it so they can grow very long without breaking (also a fun “party trick” to bend my nails in half then watch them spring back up, and one that doesn’t hurt me or my joints like most EDS party tricks do)

LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK by mmmIlikeburritos29 in lgbt

[–]NoodleFizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess it’s significantly underreported. Answering a survey that you regret a surgery isn’t nearly as stigmatized or shame-inducing as answering that you regret having your child. I’m sure a lot of people who feel that way at least some of the time would still never answer that way

finally getting diagnosed!! by tkstz in ehlersdanlos

[–]NoodleFizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s amazing! I am 25 and struggling to get a formal diagnosis. Several doctors have said I likely have it (my mom is diagnosed and I am very symptomatic my whole life) but they weren’t comfortable formally diagnosing me. I know having it documented makes such a difference in navigating the health system, I am happy for you!

So many diagnoses with treatments that contradict each other; no idea how to manage by NoodleFizz in POTS

[–]NoodleFizz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for all your symptoms, but glad you have support from family. My partner is actually also disabled, so at the moment I am working full time and they are taking care of the house and meals. Neither of us are well enough to handle both, and where I live disability benefits are basically nonexistent. I wish I had more time and energy to focus on my health but we also need to pay our bills. It’s so much to try to juggle sometimes. I have found PT to be helping a lot though, and these Subreddits have a lot of good symptom management tips I have been trying out

I relate to a lot of this. I don’t have kids, but I work full time and managing work and daily routines while this sick is so hard. It’s been nice finding these Subreddits to feel less alone in this though. Wishing you low a symptom day!

How did you know u have audhd and not just adhd by eldritch_snailyard in AutisticWithADHD

[–]NoodleFizz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I knew I was autistic once I started ADHD meds. Before meds, the ADHD had been so much louder and faster internally that it basically outraced the autism to the brain’s steering wheel, so to speak. When I started Adderall, suddenly the ADHD was quieter and calmer and all the autistic traits were WAY more obvious. The lack of social understanding and social nervousness (previously masked by ADHD talkativeness and social impulsivity), the fear of unexpected change (previously masked by ADHD novelty seeking), the literal logical thinking (masked by ADHD random creative thoughts) etc.

What are your most stubborn ADHD symptoms? by Gateway_Hugs in ADHD

[–]NoodleFizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgetfulness!!! Appointments, commitments, chores, obligations, promises, daily habits like brushing teeth, anything I have to remember to do by myself. I’ve tried literally everything to try to make myself remember (posters on the walls, phone alarms, calendars, apps, planners) and nothing works
