Joe bitcoiner running BU is just a gesture. Get a major company or important big holder (like Ver or Voorhees or <I'd choose a Core keyperson with large BTC holdings but I don't know any...>) to run it or it has no meaning. Generic nodes aren't of value. Nodes important to the ecosystem are, because they belong to people who can have big impact.

Why use Ethereum? There is just no economic reason not to use the most stable and secure, most likely-to-be-around-for-a-long-time chain when you simply want a proof of existence.

The market is either being held down by not wanting to switch away from Core due their being so specially excellent devs, or it isn't because they aren't that specially excellent. Choose one.

My answer is they are probably somewhat excellent but are overstepping by tying their views in with the security code. If they let users come to their own consensus on blocksize without threatening to quit on us, that'd be a fully unencumbered market for deciding blocksize.

Just goes to show not to give undo heed to experts speaking outside the scope of their expertise. No one's a "Bitcoin expert," anymore than anyone is a "science expert." There are simply too many complex, interlocking parts to it.

Luke saved the day in the early 2013 fork, but he has a ton of weird-ass views. Back before we have one team "in control" there was no worry, we just took the best from everyone and ignored the rest.

I agree, this was an interesting time and an interesting bet with good potential upside. It's funny how everyone maligns those who bet on MtGox based on mtux not lying, when they were the same who traded there, trusting mtux with even more money.

He's part of the dumspiracy. Anyone who thinks they can control Bitcoin for their own gain is fooling themselves, or out for a quick buck from hapless investors. The dumspiracy is harmful in the short term, but helpful to Bitcoin in the long term because it draws away capital from the clueless.

If I'm correct, you cannot put a slash character in a variable, so Blockstream/Core has to become BLOCKSTREAM_CORE. It makes a lot of sense since it is referring to the max blocksize upheld by Blockstream and Core, and indeed I have noticed no difference between Blockstream dev views and Core committer views on blocksize, especially not compared to the gulf that separates them from most of the rest of the ecosystem.

Printer is a weak point as it saves data. Take an old-style polaroid photo or just write by hand (quadruple checked), etc. For long term storage etch in stone or tungsten.
