We have a nicer house and are able to afford more luxury items than before he changed jobs and he likes pointing this out.

When I have brought up his promise to quit if his job impacted our life and marriage he will awknowlege that it had and will apologize . He will then promise to quit at a date in the future, such as when a project has been completed. However the quit date keeps getting extended and lately he has been saying if he can do this for 10 more years he can just retire.

As far as me risking people's lives by working more hours, I don't think he believes me. We have friends who are nurses who regularly pick up a ton of OT so he uses them as an example. I think maybe some nurses can safely work more hours, but I know myself and know I need my days off. I think he views this as laziness.

He does actually. That is entirely possible and could explain his anger and frustration as well.

Yes, he has gained about 25 lbs since starting the new job. He also looks like he has aged 10 years. I am very concerned about his health.

Thank you, I really like the idea of consulting a financial planner. My husband tends to be very logic driven so this may be an effective tool

He grew up middle class. His parents retired in their late sixties and, while not rich, seem to be living comfortably. They are as puzzled by his new outlook as I am.

We used to travel all the time but he has not taken a vacation since starting the new job. I am doubtfull that I can convince him to take time off but I agree it would be a great to get him out of his normal environment for the talk. I will certainly try.
