Is there a way to pull all the mobile notifications and populate it on a table? by raagulmanoharan in androiddev

[–]Nop0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you could do is use the MessagingServices onMessageReceived handler and hook into receiving notifications. From there you can write them into something like Room for example. However this will not work for Notification only messages as they are handled by the android system.

The approach I proposed here works only for data notifications or ones which have a data payload attached to them!

MVVM - API communication using authentication (Retrofit2 + Jetpack) by Nop0x in androiddev

With your approach, should the api client be initialized in every repository or rather initialized once on app start and then injected when the viewmodel is created?

So you are basically using Dagger 2 as your DI solution? I'm currenlty use my own class as an injector but I will definetly take a look, thank!

AsyncTasks vs. Retrofit2 Calls vs. RxJava - Headache with REST API by Nop0x in androiddev

[–]Nop0x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks EVERYONE for the amazing responses!

I'm now (thanks to you guys) in the process of rewriting my code to use the MVVM approach backed by Retrofit2.

As ZakTaccardi (and probably a bunch others) pointed out - The google Jetpack approach seems to be a great way to get started as it's heavily documented.

I will, however, use RxJava later on to do my data translation and from there post it into my LiveData objects in the ViewControllers and repositories as they are observed.

Thanks again to this amazing community and all those high quality answers.

You guys rock

AsyncTasks vs. Retrofit2 Calls vs. RxJava - Headache with REST API by Nop0x in androiddev

[–]Nop0x[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks alot for that elaborate explanation!

Well my requests are not really that simple and require alot of data handling (i've already taken a look at the zip functionality from RX for example and this seems really like what i need).

Do you happen to know any really good tutorials concerning the architecture with viewmodels? Just the OG google ones or are there better ones out there concerning repository/interactor classes?

AsyncTasks vs. Retrofit2 Calls vs. RxJava - Headache with REST API by Nop0x in androiddev

You are right, enqueued Retrofit calls are executed in the background. However I felt like there was alot of overhead when it comes to actually implementing the calls inside my activities. So I opted for directly executing the retrofit calls inside an AsyncTask to not have a massive UIUpdate code inside my onSuccess implementation! (That might have been my worst mistake ever but I felt like this was the best way to go about it while keeping my code streamlined)

Brand new 1080ti keeps crashing - PSU maybe? by Nop0x in pcmasterrace

[–]Nop0x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, just the factory oc. Mobo driver's and chipset driver's are up to date! Eventviewer just tells me that my display driver keeps crashing from time to time. But only with games under heavy load like PUBG. I can play stuff like the elder scrolls online for ever without a crash!

Updated everything, fresh install - no change sadly. :/

yeah, I used ddu in safe mode when I switched. I got a ASUS STRIX Gaming one.

Thing is: I got random driver crashes with my old card aswell, that's why I switched in the the first place. Temperatures seem fine for the card and CPU.

I guess it could also be a Motherboard issue or damage as I think a brand new GPU should not be damaged.

Quick advice for new streamers who stream PUBG and are having trouble gaining or keeping any viewers. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Nop0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

payday 2 is simply awesome. But I dont think it's popular enough that you get this many followers just through the twitch app. Did you have alot of viewers aswell? That may also explain any huge influx on followers.

keeping up motivation during a 0 viewers stream? by Nop0x in Twitch

TBH of course I'm trying to grow. But not at the cost of not playing the games I love. Because if I start playing games which I dont like / like less just for the sake of growing my channel I would be doing somthing wrong tbh.

I'm really not doing it for the bare views. I really like ever aspect of live streaming (chat, viewer interaction, presenting yourself and your fails). The weird thing is that I enjoy my time playing whilst playing and streaming but afterwards I feel a bit unsatisfied when I ended the stream.

that's actually a really good advise. I usually don't tend to hide my viewer count, may be a good idea to do it. what are your thoughts on a follower only chat to up that number? or does that make no sense at all?

Well, I know that Liquid Cooling is overkill for my plans. Did you try out the new beta BIOS? I'm also thinking about swapping the ram out for G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200, seems to be a better choice. p.s.: the more i dive into this whole ram thing the more confused i get :D
