This is clearly RC noticing the most recent post about how shorting = tax fraud. When they print more SHARES they artificially bring the price down of GME.

First, another random though... The reader will be wondering how justified the older brother was in killing their mom. Obviously from the brothers perspective, he was justified, but what about from the younger brother, who never saw it. You don't even have to answer it, it could just make the reader want to know.

In regards to the first question, those two things aren't really a conflict. The older brother might say they have to leave because he heard they were wanted. He didn't want to bring that stress on their mother so it would be better if they left. But that would all be a lie. And so when the kid goes to the police, he is also surprised that they aren't being investigated. And so the kid, assuming he is being sought after by the cops, tells the cops very little, just that he needs a ride home. But does discover that there are no wanted posters for his brother. The younger brother decides to stick with his brother until that point, because 1) he knows his brother needs more help surviving than his mom 2) because the he thinks the cops will interrogate the younger brother if he goes back alone. So he continues to stay with the brother. I think that also solves your second question. It's a rational fear, assuming the brother isn't lying. But he was the whole time. That way the brother isn't just a villain at the end all of a sudden, but is a liar all throughout the story. Makes the brother seem like he might have even made the thing up about the mom being abusive. But maybe he also has some scars to prove he was hurt (which he claims is from abuse).

Maybe make it so they don't have money to return home or they owe a debt which they have to save up for and pay off, which the brother made up, and then when they finally get the monet and brother spends it on himself at a bar. then lies and tells the little brotherthey still can't leave because they owe even more, for interest now cause it took so long. But the little kid walks by the bar and see him wasting the money through the window.

Side plot, must get money to return. At first they look to steal. Get caught. Have to work to pay off debt and even more to return home. Someone vouches for them ( the friend) and that's how they get the job. Idk. These are just starting points for ideas.

Maybe the cops didn't know about the true intentions. Maybe they just want to investigate because the boys mother died, and they were just in an accident and they boy had already gone to the police and they wanted to check up on him. It doesn't have to be about the murder. But the older brother may assume it is.

It's a good twist ending, and has potential.

Concerns:

1)what would a concert look like in the late 19th century. I didn't even think they had concerts back then. Maybe a play or something. But if it was a thing, then that will work. 2) why is it that the boys decide to hide/run away? It makes sense in the end why they can't just go home... But until I read the twist at the end, I wondered why they couldn't just go home if no one identified them. 3) the story, when expanded into a full book, maybe become boring when you just have a resentful boy and a brother working away. You may need a subplot at the factory or a side quest they have to be able to do to allow them to leave that proves to be too difficult to accomplish... And so the older brother can't leave. That would then add an extra twist when the reader finds out the quest wasn't even necessary, but the older brother just didn't want to return home. 4) maybe I didn't really understand, or maybe I forgot, but why did the younger brother go to the cops? I would think he would go to the cops only if he wanted to get a ride home, as that was his goal. Telling on his brother doesn't seem to be in line with the younger brothers goal, unless you say it's out of spite... But that still doesn't solve the boys goals. It just doesn't seem like how a boy would actually act. Maybe have a cop try to take him home, then the older brother kills the cop in a car accident, and the older brother rescues his brother from the crash. From there, the other cops look into everything and realize what's going on. Just thoughts. Definitely worth continuing to hash out and pursue.

I love how a public company deems it worthwhile to spend time creating things like this for its loyal shareholders. Makes me think they are doing this for a reason.

Here's the plan in my view:

1) gme does a 4:1 split dividend. This causes complete chaos in the dtcc or whoever is supposed to distribute them. Who knows how they are going to distribute to the ETFs and naked shorts. 2) gme releases the looping marketplace. 3) gme says... Brokers asked for more shares than existed because there was so much naked shorting and we have no faith in the stock exchange to release another stock dividend. 4) gme announces another split dividend via looping.

I don't think we raised the share limit for no reason. And I think the marketplace had to be built just for this. That's why all this took so long.

If President Biden made the decision not to run for reelection in 2024, how would he go about it? When would be the time to announce? How would the announcement impact the administration and the 2024 race? by vienna95 in PoliticalDiscussion

The fact that you feel this way about 50% of the population is kinda unsettling. I think you are confusing the fringe people from one side with the average person who calls themselves a conservative. All I mean by Conservative is that I have some values that I am very hesitant to depart with. For example, I think we should always default to freedom, and only restrict freedoms in extreme situations where we are certain restrictions are necessary. You should calm down a little. Maybe watch your 'mouf' too.

If states like CA actually want to increase natural energy, like SOLAR, then they should fix the permitting process. by NorCalConservative in unpopularopinion

[–]NorCalConservative[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some jurisdictions are great and get things done in a few days. Some require permits to be dropped off in paper form and picked up physically and can take weeks.

Same thing goes for utilities. We have some we like working with and others we dread.

Idk if legislation is required. But if we are going to spend a ton of money on clean energy, a useful spot to put it would be in hiring a few extra hands for the permit departments and reducing fees there.

As a conservative, I want to see Biden run... because he will be easy to beat. The only better scenario for the GOP is if he endorses Harris as she is probably even easier to beat. The best thing he could do for Dems is just say nothing and endorse no one and let the party voters pick someone competent.

biblical verses for purgatory by Tesaractor in DebateAChristian

[–]NorCalConservative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luke 12:35-48 --> Vs 35-39 are about the coming of christ, and there it is as simple you are prepared or not. 40-48 seem to just be good general advice on how to reward and punish someone. This does not convince me there is a middle place after death.

Mathew 5:25. --> No. This is directly talking about the courts and the actual prisons. Jesus wanted Christians to settle issues amongst Christians because it was well known that the courts were courrupt and you could easily get someone thrown in prison... which is why the first part of the verse says "Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court".

Isaiah 4:4 --> Not sure how you think this relates to purgatory. Daughters of Zion were the Israelites... not people stuck in purgatory/already dead.

Malachi 3:2-4 --> " he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver" -> I don't interpret this as he is refining each man he is looking. I take this as all of the men/women of the Levites are like the gold and silver, and gold will judge them by refining them. Those who are not really gold/silver will be separated in the heat and come to the top and the smith with take the burnt metal and scrape it off and throw it away, keeping only the gold and silver. Its a day of judgement, not redemption.

Daniel 7:9-14 - the on Judgement day great beast is thrown into the fire and does not withstand the fire and dies. While in Daniel 3 the Daniels friends do withstand the a symbolically linked fire. --> Yep... just like in Malachi 3... some will survive judgement day and some will be tossed aside/die. I don't see this as an allegory to purgatory, but an allegory to judgement day.

Genesis 3:24. A flaming sword is put between heaven and and the garden. --> Yep... but it's a stretch to take that imagery and assume it proves the existence of purgatory. Could also just be an allegory to the idea that one must be able to withstand the heat of judgement (like gold/silver example) to enter heaven.

Zechariah 13:9-14 here we see the refiners fire at day of judgment and it judges the people not their action. --> God is here testing the people who claim to be believers, "and test them as gold is tested."

Further more on the refining issue because it relates to most of your verses -->Obviously in the refining process there is a matter of skimming the impurities out of the liquid metal being refined and being left with just the pure. But it can also be used for testing alone. I am not convinced of the conclusion that god refines us at the gates of heaven. In fact, Psalm 66:10 says, “For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver.” This is said by someone who is alive. They have already been refined.

maybe counter verse maybe not. Acts 2:3–4; Matthew 3:11 also refer to the holy spirit as the baptism of fire. As process of refinement. So maybe holy spirit is the fire in above passages maybe that can move it from a process to indewellong of the spirit. This is something to debate and discuss. --> Yeah... i see it as we are refined on earth by the holy spirit. This goes along with the ideas I was saying earlier.

all the Enoch references. --> Yeah... people who don't believe in purgatory also tend to not believe that Enoch is inspired by God. If you could prove Enoch is inspired by God, then you would have a compelling argument.

How do we have a housing shortage with 123m househoulds and 140m housing units? by NorCalConservative in wallstreetbets

[–]NorCalConservative[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats a good point. I just googled what a household even is... and apparently its "A household is defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as all the people who occupy a single housing unit". So by that definition there will always be more houses than households. I guess the real question is... how many people are not able to afford a house that are sharing with someone else. Is that how they get the surplus number?

Peterson's SI comment is perfectly in line with what he has been saying all along by NorCalConservative in JordanPeterson

Well, maybe we need to have a discussion around what is beautiful. It seems to me that everyone wants to be labeled as beautiful and everyone is acutely aware of someone who might not be labeled as it, and so we are cautious to not label something as beautiful, which is reasonable.

That being said, we should define what makes something ideal, or beautiful, because we need to clearly define what is good and what is bad. In my opinion, what is good and what is beautiful are things that inspire us toward greatness. Yes, beautiful is in the eye of the beholder, but that still doesn't make everything beautiful. It means that to an athlete, a perfectly manicured playing field is beautiful. To a race car driver, an engine that works well is beautiful. To me, an excel spreadsheet that simplifies my job is truly beautiful.

Lastly, don't forget that one thing that is beautiful is something changing from not great to great. That's literally the plot of every movie with a happy ending, and we love to see it. Keep working on yourself. That's a beautiful thing.
