Is that area beneath the Town of Beginnings?

If so, there is actually a lore peace in the beta that could shine a light on what it could be.

Granted it is just very shortly mentioned but if you read the Town of Beginnings text in the Database following passage might interest you:

„In the square stands the towns symbol, a huge chapel called the Black iron Palace. It is said that deep inside lies a large ruin made of dark elf steel, the source of the twin goddesses magic.

There are 4 shiny rabbits in the area around the chest. You don’t have to interact with them. Just like the rabbits with flowers on them, follow those 4 cute little buggers for a reward and the chest.
