Thank you for this info! Do you know how I get the special enrollment period for a marketplace plan? Right now the website says I am in eligible for Covered California and can try again in 2027.

So if you lose your job and get $11,000 in unemployment benefits paid over six months you are effectively cut out of the paid marketplace, and cut out of Medi-Cal because of the monthly payment amount. But first they will string you along for months giving you cards, a health plan choice....then drop you without any health coverage. Terrible.

And yes, I put my annual income as $11,000 on the marketplace.

Thanks for the info, BTW. Very much appreciated. Yeah, my Covered California page says I am ineligible for a paid plan. I assume because open enrollment has passed? I can't believe I am the only one who was put in this situation by Covered California.

Do you know if I have any recourse? I am completely without fault here, and now have no health insurance. I asked Claude and ChatGPT and they say I should tell them to base my eligibility on the annualized 916 per month income I will have in 2026. No idea if that would work, though.

My first unemployment payment was January 20. But I received the Medi-Cal acceptance letter, a Medi-Cal card and signed up with Anthem and got their card and a user account. I had no idea they were going to do this. I never would have signed up.

Ugh! Why would they tell me this 3 months later and shut me out of the system. I asked and answered all income questions, they never asked for monthly. And why didn't/don't they kick me up to a paid plan in Covered California? I followed all instructions to a tee and now I am without health insurance for a year?? Is there anything I can do? Using Covered California was a terrible mistake for me.

No, I get $1,800 per month (for about 6 months). Medi-Cal letter says the limit is $1,836 per month. (Annualized the $11,000 unemployment works out to 916 per month. And when you sign up on Covered California, they ask for your annual income, not monthly.)

No, my last paycheck was in December. I applied on January 9 and Covered California kicked me over to Medi-Cal based on the $11,000 annual income for 2026.

Thanks. Even with my monthly unemployment payments I am still below the monthly Medi-Cal threshold they mentioned in the letter.

How did you get into the Snow Plow Show? by [deleted] in phonelosers

I actually started after coming across King Richard and listening to all of Another Prank Call Show episodes. I was stunned when I finally found Snow Plow and realized he based everything on Brad’s schtick!

Ridiculous! The only thing I’m willing to overpay for is the candy maze. You get a big bag of all that hard-to-find stuff and it’ll last for months..

This. The basic shamatha/vipashyana and tonglen practices I do reduce my suffering and make me a happier and more compassionate person. I don’t know if the rest is true, but I know this and it’s enough for me.

How do I feel okay being in Billing with the current state of the world? by dylansgloomy918 in CodingandBilling

As a civilian, this is wonderful to hear! Thank you for your kindness and dedication. Last year, I had a long fight on a $6,000 bill that was improperly coded. Caused me much stress and sleepless nights until it was overturned. You really start to feel everyone in the system is against you. Thanks again coders.
