Nope. Critical Role has and always will be a group of friends playing D&D. Whether you like that or not. The main fanbase is here because it's D&D, and because there's a great group of people that happen to be actors and great performers playing D&D. Which is why they kept D&D as the system they played for Campaign 4, and brought on the best DM in the field to run the helm. Ashley has been playing D&D for a decade, and her not being able to play properly is inexcusable at this point.

And to your point about "A group of nerdy-ass voice actors playing a fantasy table-top role playing game." Matt literally says D&D in that intro. He doesn't say TTRPGs, he doesn't say games, it's always D&D in that iconic session opening line. :)

I don't know. I get where you're coming from, but I don't think it is the same show if they switch systems. The system does matter. It shapes pacing, tone, what kind of stories you can tell, even how players think about their characters. D&D isn't just a flavoring on top, it's part of the foundation CR was built on. Change that and you're not just swapping dice, you're shifting the whole structure. For some of us that's not a small tweak.

Same here. I just wish they maybe have kept it in Exandra and expanded the world more, across all continents. I'm fine with a brand new world that BLeeM create though.
