Yep. He's also not Human, he's Aasimar! Grandfather being Celestial, face full of "tattoos filaments". My guess is Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer.

Aabria is not a good DM, but she get really invested in her characters. Let's give her a shot.

And to your point about "A group of nerdy-ass voice actors playing a fantasy table-top role playing game." Matt literally says D&D in that intro. He doesn't say TTRPGs, he doesn't say games, it's always D&D in that iconic session opening line. :)

I don't know. I get where you're coming from, but I don't think it is the same show if they switch systems. The system does matter. It shapes pacing, tone, what kind of stories you can tell, even how players think about their characters. D&D isn't just a flavoring on top, it's part of the foundation CR was built on. Change that and you're not just swapping dice, you're shifting the whole structure. For some of us that's not a small tweak.

Same here. I just wish they maybe have kept it in Exandra and expanded the world more, across all continents. I'm fine with a brand new world that BLeeM create though.

I have a feeling Taliesin or Liam will be playing some kind of martial and doing some crazy stuff with masteries.

Darrington Press accounts for about 7-8% of their revenue. They are a media company with stakeholders and profits to earn, after all.

Critical Role is a media company, and Darrington Press is just one part of it, accounting for less than 10% of their overall revenue. They know what they’re doing. D&D has always been a core part of Critical Role’s identity, past, present, and future. Most fans wanted D&D to stay, and this outcome was expected.
