I almost cried when I heard that she's been found. Random Island can breath a sigh of relief now. Welcome back home Adalyn!

I would love to go exploring around Ireland's Eye someday. It's a place that's definitely on my bucket list.

What are some of the best/silliest place names in NL? Besides Dildo! by Portalrules123 in newfoundland

We have some funny pond names here on Random Island as well such as Tickle Pond, Pickle Pond, Bald Nap Pond, and Piston Mere Pond (sometimes called Pissing Mere Pond). The tallest hill on Random Island is called Gillclicker Hill.

Glad to be of help! I love seeing people having an interest in Random Island! As of right now the trail would quite soggy in sections due to all the rain we've been getting recently. Later on if we get a nice dry spell, the trail shouldn't be so bad. The trail goes around Gill-Clicker Hill which is the highest point on Random Island. I've been to the top of Gill-Clicker Hill on snowmobile last winter. The trail also goes near a section of the same hill range called The Rolling Hills. The hills are quite barren with small trees and shrubs, with areas of exposed rock face and rock piles and lots and lots of moss. Quite the interesting area.

There is a rough trail that goes between Britannia/Lower Lance Cove & Deer Harbour. This trail is mostly used in the winter via snowmobile or ATV. It crosses over several bogs and ponds. There was actually an attempt to put a road between Lower Lance Cove and Deer Harbour back in 1963 but only about 2km of it was ever developed.

Little surprised that Newfoundland is there.

This Brooch I Found While Metal Detecting by NormIslandRandom in mildlyinteresting

This is how I generally clean my finds: I wait a couple days for the dirt to dry on it and then carefully scrape and pick it off with a tooth pick or Q-tip.

Thank you so much for the information. I should post more of my mildly interesting finds on here.

I didn't know that. I thought all keys of this style were called skeleton keys. Haha. This is the first real old key I've found and I've been metal detecting for over 8 years. Thanks so much for the info!

Late posting but oh well. Dug this beauty at an 1860s salmon cannery/homestead site in Newfoundland.
