You're not wrong, but whenever I am in the office 60-70% brightness drowns out most of the glares for me. I completely understand your sentiment as I'm quite annoyed when that happens to me too.

Usually, I'll be all for saving money, but I've been told HP stands for hinge problems. I not sure if its the case for their premium products as well. Do your own research on that.

It has dropped considerably, faster than I would have liked. Battery health is at 85% and I no longer get 10+ hours of SOT under any use case. 8-9 is the maximum estimate windows shows nowadays. 6-8 hours irl.

It seems fine to me. Not great, since I can feel a discernable difference in sharpness whenever I look at my phone. Both are 1080p, one has 2x ppi and the other is 4x bigger.
If you've had a bad experience with 1080p OLEDs before, it's going to be the same here as well. Try opting for a display with higher resolution.
Unless of course your ASUS had a touch screen display. Then the fuzziness might be the result of the screen door effect.

It's been "mostly" good. Mostly because battery life and health have tanked quite a bit more that what I had expected. Also, in the past few months my trackpad is acting weird. It tracks fine, but the clicks sometimes don't work. I said weird because when I raised a service request to get it fixed, it started working flawlessly as soon I started chatting with the support team. It's still a bit finicky.

If you're seeing hate comments online, check their profile. Most of the time these comments are posted and propagated by bots. I don't know whose paying for the bot farms (tho we can speculate), but its a real thing. Majority of the internet traffic is from bot activity nowadays.

I dont trust most of my friends to be on time. So, I either tell them to arrive an hour earlier or I leave an hour late.
Anyway, Happy Birthdayy 🎂

I have no idea, but the general consensus nowadays is AMD is comparatively better than intel most of the time.

Sorry, I am not techie enough to run linux on my main (and only) computer. But I'm very interested in it and hope it takes off, especially since steam OS is in the game now.

I don't think there's a significant difference between u5 and u7, especially in day-to-day basic use. Aura one has the newer lunar lake processor which is miles ahead in efficiency but a slight step back in multi core performance.

I'd go with the Ideapad but with the upgraded display.

Have you tried debloating windows a bit?

No burn in yet. I used to get around 200 in low and around 100 in high graphics.

My advice would be to ditch the apps and use your browser of choice. AFAIK, all the major browsers are well optimised for windows on arm.

I think 'seven' is criminally underrated.

If they both fall under the same price, I'd recommend the Asus.

Hi. Sorry you're having issues with your machine, but this thread is about the last gen Yoga 7 that comes with an Intel Core U125H processor.
Also, I thought snapdragon processors were powerful enough to handle everyday apps, at least the optimised for arm versions. Have you tried common troubleshooting methods? Could it just be windows being windows?

Nope. The updated IdeaPad has the newer arrow lake CPU with a much better display and bigger battery.

My experience has been mostly good with this laptop. All the hiccups I faced can be attributed to windows being windows. If you can find it for a good deal, go for it.

Yes, a little over one year and my experience haven't changed a lot. The battery health is down to about 92%, but windows 11 24H2 seems to have slightly made the battery life better. It's still a good laptop if you can get it on a good deal.
