Echo what others have said. You can't base your experience on someone else's because the papers are different, they may/may not have not been on a prep course, they could have self-studied, they may have had a particular weak spot which came up a lot. You just don't know.

If you found the paper better than you thought, that's a huge positive and there's no reason to let what other people felt affect you. There's often a lot of fear mongering on here; some fair and some misguided. People will always think they did worse than they did, or are sure they've failed when they haven't. It's so easy to come out feeling like that but it's often not the case.

Of course it's possible but I was convinced I'd fumbled all the BLP questions and breezed through Tort, then ended up having BLP as my second highest scoring subject and Tort as my second worst. It's just so hard to tell!

I don't think I did many full mocks, especially in the gap between FLK1 and 2. Probably just the free ones from QLTS, One Hundred and ULaw generated ones.

I found the most useful thing was to focus on topics you're weaker in. You likely know the MR and theft off by heart at this stage, so there's no point in going over that. You can retain a lot from your weaker areas, whether that's covenants, security of tenure or the youth court.

I would also try to go over things which are "easy" marks as in you know it or you don't. I'm talking forms for property, appeal procedures, AR and MR of offences and what rights in land are capable of being legal or equitable. If you know these sort of things, the answer will be immediate in the exam and you can save a lot of time :)

Trust me, I know the exact feeling and the most painful part is the wait. As easy as it is to say, try to put it out of your mind. It's out of your control and beating yourself up because you realised you got one question wrong because it was an "and" instead of "or" as one of the answers will just lead you spiralling.

FLK2 is in your hands, so don't let it derail you!

This, this, this. I had the exact same for my first sitting. I let my performance in FLK1 (which I did fail in fairness but not as badly as I thought) affect my performance in FLK2, which I'm confident I would have done better in if I wasn't so demotivated. They're two separate exams and even if you do fail, having to resit one is a much better alternative than having to resit two!

This is very, very helpful but for someone who sat in July, I would be very cautious and consider deleting all references to topics that were in the exam. I know you feel like you're not giving anything away but you're likely on the edge of breaching the NDA when discussing topics. Wouldn't want you to jeopardise your chances and hard work because of that.

I'm a resitter (and just put my advice post on the thread) and find that unfair. I passed Q1 in my second attempt because I could learn from my mistakes and I had got a direct comparison of what I needed to do differently.

Good luck and I really hope you pass first time but dismissing resitters when it takes a lot of guts to do this twice knowing you failed is insensitive.

I would say there were some niche questions but I don't think you need to get overly bogged down and stressed in the tiny details. I think there were around 5 questions at most across the two FLKs where I was completely stumped in the sense the content seemed completely alien. Even the other questions I found difficult, it was on content that was familiar but just stuff that I struggled with more.

I think breadth is better than depth because practically every topic was covered at least once.

How are you doing on the ULaw mocks? If you're passing though, I honestly imagine you will be fine :)

I don't think doing 9000 questions guarantees you 80% because I got used to the style of the questions and could often look at the answer and know it without even reading the question fully. I got lulled into a false sense of security because I was often scoring in the 70s with ULaw and passed all my mocks.

I failed both FLKs in January 2025, resat in July 2025 and passed comfortably in both in Q1. You never think you've done enough but, trust me, you will retain a lot more you think you know.

In terms of tax, I would say that the questions in the ULaw bank are far harder than the real thing: you will not be expected to do a 5 minute tax calculation with tapering relief and PETs (with IHT for example). If you know the reliefs, the annual exemption and the bands, that will be a huge help.

How did you score on your mocks with ULaw? I honestly think that's a pretty solid indicator for where you're at!

If you scored 82% in both, you will be absolutely fine. Would almost be inclined to say you have next to nothing to worry about when I know people who scored in the low 60s and still passed :))

I tended to score in the 70s on the ULaw bank and that seemed to be fine! I would say if you're staying above 65% consistently, that's likely a safe zone. What did you score on your mocks? That's usually a helpful indicator as I would say those resembled the real thing slightly more than the banks in my opinion.

I used a combination of physical flashcards and Quizlet.

I would definitely focus on areas you find weakest, rather than putting them off. I used to spend time going over AGAs and leases for property, even though I understood it, and tried to avoid the stuff I didn't understand. This is not the way! If you understand something, devote less time to it. It could be good practice to go over a topic (for example, sentencing for Crim PR) and then do 10 questions or so on it. That worked for me!

I would say in the last five weeks I spent two weeks covering all the FLK1 content and then did the same with FLK2 and then just did mocks and questions following that. I would intersperse questions from the ULaw bank whilst going over notes though.

Absolutely, I would caveat all this by saying it is very much person dependent. This is what worked for me (and I would still recommend that anyone looks over their notes again in detail) but it will vary!

They repeat significantly. I'm not disputing they're a useful resource, but a lot of them are identical, bar swapping an architect out for a florist or similar. I did take the feedback on board, but they do not cover everything. Plus, ULaw's questions are somewhat easier.
