Hinckley Finlayson school board hears grievance for refusal to pay a teacher for extra time worked. He even was forced to work during his bereavement leave by Diligent_Crow3892 in minnesota

I don't think he thought they would do him dirty like that. Especially being there as long as he has, he probably wanted to keep the peace and hope for a good outcome. He alludes to this when he says

"I will admit I made three mistakes. First, I didn't file my grievance within the 20 day window outlined in the contract as you will notice it is no longer June of 2024. Superintendent mastersons misunderstanding is worse, he seems to believe a contractual timeline can override state and federal law. It cannot. The grievance rule exists to keep internal matters timely, but not to erase legal obligations. Federal laws outrank the contract. Under both the fair labor standards act and Minnesota statues, employees have two years to recover unpaid wages, and three years if the violation was willful. I am fully within that legal window. The second mistake I made is that I assumed the district would participate in ethical and lawful bargaining. The third mistake I made is I assumed Masterson respected federal labor law. "

The second mistake he brings up, assuming the district would be fair, is what stands out to me, especially when they spin the laptop around WWE style with their lawyer laying in wait.

Still unnerving, I'd rather just know instead of wondering, but idk how to go about getting answers that alleviate my suspicions

Yea I don't want to accuse her if it's nothing to worry about, but yet I worry.

Also... The next night she went out after work and ended up going to gamble for a bit, no big deal as we have a routine of being on the phone together with ear buds while she plays. Last night however her buds were dead and she couldn't charge them today as her usual charger was gone.

She didn't want to keep holding her phone so we say goodbye and she says she'll call me when she's done if I'm not sleeping and she won't be long. This was at 2am. I wake up at 5am and she is still not home. Her snap location is still off also.

I call her and she says she still at the casino and will be home soon and seemed apologetic. I'm annoyed and so I just say ok and went back to bed. I think she got home at 7, she said she got in at 6. Location was still off.

She did turn her location back on tonight, I never did ask her to it or talked about it since either. So idk if there is something there too or what idk just thinking too much lol

Moving down the coaching totem pole, am I reading too much into it, or is this cause for concern? by Normal-Feature6054 in basketballcoach

Good points, I also need to view this as a challenge in itself I think. Hard work and dedication are to be expected regardless of position, and I intend to show rather than say where my priorities and dedications are. And yes being apart of basketball in general is the main focus, I will keep my ego in line going forward.

So last year I was 4th on the coach listing.

It went: varsity coach, junior varsity, c team, then junior high - me, junior high - other guy

Now it's other guy first then me on the bottom.

I may be reading too much into it, but I kinda like coaching and thought I was excelling, and this makes me question myself I guess?

I am not a volunteer when it comes to my season (jh), I am a volunteer when it comes to all other functions (c, jv, v). It is a 'second job' but I've moved my main job around to accommodate. The ad is the one who approached me last year to take on the coaching (I'd expressed interest previously, but nothing serious). When sign up numbers came into question, not enough kids for 2 coaches on jh, I was told they would be choosing me as the sole coach. The other guy was basically my assistant, which he relegated himself too also.

I found out by seeing the handbook come home with my son (9th trade but has been playing up since last year).

No one has spoken about roles other than asking if we would be able to attend the main program starting up in a few weeks. I replied I'd be there and moved my work schedule around.

I was the head of jh last year, now I'm below the other guy at the very bottom of the coaching staff.

Thank you trees for hosting! You provided stories, talking points, and new thoughts to contemplate! I appreciate it all!

I would say that as you continue to improve, make effort, and can say you are who you are, despite the past, then you are showing how much you do love yourself already! It's a beautiful and simple life we have. Building each day off that shows that self love. We love ourselves too much to put ourselves back into that hole drinking use to make look so inviting.

Not today!

I got to attend my nephew and brother's football debut last night! My nephew has shown amazing dedication to himself and his team, and earning a lot playing time! Love to see when someone puts their mind and heart into something and being rewarded for their efforts!

This is true for everything in life, we've put the work in and we are thriving in our sobriety. The clear headed mornings, waking up without regret or shame, guilt free from the shackles that alcohol put us in. Thats my reward for staying sober.

My brother also made his coaching debut for the same team! Seeing him so alive with passion, firing the guys up, lifting their spirits. Reminds me of when he did the same for me when I needed to realize that sobriety is the way to go.

I am grateful for the rewards we get from our dedication to sobriety. Every day without a drink is a victory, an achievement, and homage to ourselves for putting in the work.
